With Dumba extension? I think Islanders should take that.

Devils accept pretty easily. Wallstedt is the real deal.

No, Dobson is fantastic, better than Werenski was at the same age. Legitimate #1 soon. Dumba is a good #3

Maybe you're right but Wallstedt is also at least 2-3 years from NHL ready and a few more years after that from being a starter

Idk about easy, Mercer is also the real deal and has proved it in the NHL, this offer would be very intriguing though

Mercer is very good with an elite ceiling. Wallstedt is the best goaltending prospect in the world. This trade is stupidly good for the devils.

Young centers are the most valuable asset in hockey.
Goaltenders are voodoo.

So I’d want either a condition on that deal (Wallstedt starts x games by 2025) or to see him play NA pro hockey first.

At the end of the day, Daws could be as good as Wallstedt.

Wallstedt is the best possible scenario for us acquiring a goaltender, and Mercer is basically worse Cooley. Pulling this trade could get us a franchise goaltender and a solid piece like Korchinski or Firkus, while keeping our 2nd overall selection to pick up Cooley, Slaf, Jiricek, or best-case Wright.

If Wright falls to us, there is not a devils fan on earth lamenting the loss of Mercer. If Cooley pans out, if Slafkovsky pans out, if Luke Hughes and David Jiricek are our second defense pair and they're playing in front of a Wallstedt who is even half as good as his ceiling, Mercer will have been proven a pittance.

Young centers are not the most valuable asset in hockey. Young goaltenders are.

Young goaltenders may be the most important but there is most risk. Risk drags value. There is a reason most #1 picks are centers.

My thinking was this: What is the difference between Wallstedt and Daws? Is that gap worth Mercer? At this moment, I don’t think that it is without some protection. Which is why I said wait a year or add a conditional piece to it.

Wallstedt's floor is likely no lower than NHL backup. His ceiling is franchise.
Daws' floor is AHL starter. His ceiling, optimistically, is average NHL starter.

The insurance comes from the Minnesota 1st. If Wallstedt doesn't turn out to be a starter, at least we have a Firkus, Trikozov, Korchinski, or Östlund in our prospect pool who could realistically turn out as good as Mercer.

I feel like Mercer is the surest bet here. So I’d probably stick with that.

Spencer Knight I would do that deal for. But not Wallstedt. Not at this juncture.

These use does nothing but bait. Minnesota isn't trading Jesper wallstedt or one adding for dawson and nothing. Your dumba & fiala proposal is so bad for Minnesota also. Alex G isn't waiving.

Oh my, no way you trade Wallstedt. Middleton 950k, never happens. I appreciate people putting time into these but you are just giving the Wild players away in this ACGM in my opinion
