Realistic Summer

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Mrazek Deal:
Buffalo has cap and no goalies signed outside of there prospects. With no real big contracts outside of Thompson coming up they can take a risk by getting Mrazek. If Mrazek returns to form they get a 1a/b goalie and a pick upgrade. If he doesnt there is no risk long term to losing a player for them.

Islanders Deal:
Islanders are going all in on Sorokin who has proven to be a great goalie and they are not as bad as they were this year. Leafs need a proven NHL goalie with Campbell and Mrazek gone and Varlamov gives them that. Islanders have there top 4 d set but dont have many guys who can step in and Holl is a proven NHL 4-6 d-man. Kallgren gives them a decent backup who is young nd moving Duszak allows for potential growth as rumored he asked for a trade. Islanders hold 50% retained for only the year and in return get a pick and a decent level prospect in Duszak

Kings Deal:
Kings are trying to push back into the playoffs and with Doughty and Kopitar still theres no need to go into a rebuild with the great youth they have. Vilardi hasnt fully settled yet in the NHL for them and this allows them to get an NHL caliber player for him. Leafs take the risk that Vilardi could blossom under there system and the Kings get another mid 6 forward who is defensively responsible

It’s not realistic that Isles will retain 2.5M and get scraps back for a very good goalie in Varlamov lol, come on.

Buffalo will definitely want more for taking Mrázek’s contract too. As a UFA Burakovsky will get more term and probably more money.

That Islanders trade is very far off. Kallgren is not a decent backup, hes not even a decent 3rd string goalie. He has an 0.888 sv% on one of the best teams in the league. Holl has negative value so theres nothing there the islanders want let alone them retaining half when theyre already cap strapped.

Kings are better off with keeping Vilardi than trading for Kerfoot who will be a ufa next year. Kings are looking for top six, not bottom six

Absolutely no possible rationale for this exchange. Los Angeles needs right-handed forwards, not left-handed; Los Angeles is future-looking, not win-now, and Kerfoot is a rental; Los Angeles is looking to add a top-line forward and/or a top-pairing defenseman, both of whom will have high cap hits, and Kerfoot's will be at least $2 million more than Vilardi's, thereby precluding at least one of the two big-ticket acquisitions; and Vilardi is still seen as having a higher potential than Kerfoot ever achieved.

Isles are not retaining nor are they accepting spare parts for Varlamov. Nothing realistic about that

Absolutely nothing realistic about moving Vilardi for Kerfoot.

And then LA needing to add? Lol please.

The retention on Varlamov is worth more than that entire package.

You’re reaching with your reasoning on Mrazek
He was so terrible last year, that it’s hard to imagine any team thinking he could bounce back to “1a/1b” level of play
Especially the Sabres, who absolutely shredded Mrazek at least 3 times late last season

Might we take him off your hands & buy him out, or bury him in the minors?
That’s possible
But i think it would take more than a 3rd
