Kapanen and Legare don't have much value so its essentially Marino + for the 7th overall pick. Marino is a great player and I want the Sens to trade for him but I'd only trade the 7th for a true star.

True. They shouldn't trade it period but if they do I agree with you

Who do you think the Pens would pick at 7th overall? I don’t really follow the team and I’m genuinely curious

Why the f*ck would the Pens make this when Letang's status is still uncertain? There's just no logic being displayed here.

Because the 7th overall pick almost certainly has more value than Marino/Kapanen/Legare.

This is if Letang resigns. You should go look at my post from earlier today

Not to the Pens it doesn't. Whoever they get with that pick, if they do somehow acquire it, won't be an impact player for 1-2 years. Marino helps the team compete now and in the future.

Still makes no sense at all. Defensive depth is important.

Good question. Maybe Savoie, Lekkerimaki, or Kemell

Dude, our defense the last 3 games is why we lost in the playoffs. We need to be switching things up, not keeping it how it is.

You are legitimately stupid (that's being generous for you) if you think it was the defence's fault the Pens lost.

It's totally not like the team dominated 6 of the 7 games and was let down by an ECHL level goalie who couldn't make basic saves.

That’s the interesting. I don’t know if there is a target that makes sense for Pitt at 7, assuming Wright Cooley Gauthier Slaf Nemec and Jiriciek are the top 6 (Gauthier and the 2 down could realistically slip and pens would take anyone of those). The pens need a centre or a defensemen, so none of the typical answers at 7 which are wingers (kemell, savoie lettermaki ect) make a ton of sense. Marco Kasper could be an option. Frank Nazar makes some sense but I think 7 would be reaching for him. I would rather them go for the 12 OVR pick because then they could take one of the second tier defenseman (bischell, Mateychuk, Mintyukov, Korchinski) without a worry. If they were able to get 12 OVR without giving up 21 then they could get a centre there (Kulich or Gaucher). The exciting one would be if we acquired 7 OVR and used it to get 2 or 3 OVR to draft Cooley. So even thought I didn’t give you a solid answer, I gave more of ideas, i think Pitt would look to target a defenseman or a Center.

I agree, I'd be pissed to lose out on a star like Jiricek or Nemec

This isn't a good way to spend a 7th overall pick. Kapanen isn't a good top 6 forward and Ottawa has an abundance of 3rd line wingers, and Legare is so mid. Marino is a very solid Dman but as the core piece for a top 10 pick that's bad value.

Alright cmon this trade isn't stupid at all and it's one that a good amount of Pens fans on this website are for. I understand you being against it, but it's not stupid at all. The defense did play a role in our loss. It was a Marino turnover that led to the Rangers tying goal. I'm a fan of him and it's no where near all his fault, but the D most definitely played a role. I get you want to run it back with the same team because we almost beat the Rangers, but you really think we'd beat the Avalanche right now with our current team? We need to change stuff up.

I would think you would have to take salary back from OTT in the form of Zaitsev or Murray. Hard for the Pens to get a look at that 7OA without moving someone like Guentzel which PIT won't do.

They kicked the Rangers up and down the ice for 95% of that series, and sorry if you got your panties in a twist and don't like hearing the truth. Kiss my a*s.

95% of Pens fans on this site (such as the OP) are complete morons. That's not a good measuring stick for if something makes sense.

The defence was not a reason AT ALL for the series loss. It just wasn't. It was the putrid special teams and sub-par goaltending. It's that simple.

And it's almost like the Avalanche are a far superior team to the Rangers.

When you blow a 2 goal lead in games 5 and 6 and a 1 goal lead in game 7 the defense has something to do with it. It was a defensive turnover that led to the goal in game 7. We're they the main reason or the only reason we lost? No definitely not. But they were a part of it. They get pushed around a lot in front of the net as well plus we are paying way too much for LD when POJ can come in and save us 4 mil in cap. The goal is to win a cup, not just beat the Rangers in the first round. We are an older team and old teams just win in the NHL recently. If the goal is to make the playoffs then run it back. But it should be to win the cup and we need change and more youth for that if we wan't to beat teams like Colorado. We can all disagree and respect each others different takes without anyone being an idiot. That's the point of this site. No one is 100% right or wrong, it's all a matter of opinion. I can understand y some want to run it back and respect it, even though I disagree.
