Description
The signals this team is giving are the signals of a team that wants to land Connor Bedard by being 32nd with the best odds.

Trades
1.
CHI
  1. 2022 7th round pick (EDM)
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
I can totally see the Hawks keeping him. But as I said in the description, this team looks like it wants to go with the "scorched earth" way.
Hagel could've been a very good piece for a rebuild but they sent him out (and rightfully because of the return). I plan on sending Kane
(don't be emotional, my focus is to improve the team instead of losing trade value or just losing him for nothing) and Cat (one of the best value on the market).
Since both are out, I doubt Strome would gain value.
EDM
  1. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
If Kane does not re-sign which is a possibility I'd be interested in Strome who is 25yo, had a respectable but who also won't ask as big of a raise. He got scratched and played at the bottom of the lineup before getting lifted by Cat and Kane. A reunion with McDavid would be interesting.
2.
CHI
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Down year for Kubalik, surprised he didn't get dealt at the deadline. I still believe he can be a strong second line option. Even had rumors of him leaving without a QO from CHI.
DET
  1. Kubalik, Dominik [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
That LW core in Detroit isn't that strong. I can see Detroit making this low risk/high reward move. For Kubalik this is a great opportunity.
3.
CHI
  1. Kakko, Kaapo [RFA Rights]
  2. Kravtsov, Vitali
  3. 2023 1st round pick (NYR)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
You get Kakko who will get top minutes on a rebuilding team. A new start for Kravtsov as well. A first simply because of the production gap between the player involved AND the 50% retention. A second that would turn into a first based on playoff success or Kane's production (an ECF berth or a certain amount of point that Kane needs to reach)
NYR
  1. Kane, Patrick ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
You get a +90pts player at $5.25M that will outscore by a wide margin Kakko and Kravtsov next year. You'd totally be right to not give up this early on the 2 youngsters but would this trade improve your team next year, yes it will. Scratching Kakko also sent a message.
4.
CHI
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
  2. 2023 5th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Again, I know Hawks fans will throw rocks at me but I'd rather fully be committed to the rebuild and getting the max out of Toews and Kane. I know they got full NMCs but as a GM I would make it clear that this team is going in another direction that is nowhere near winning hockey.
WPG
  1. Toews, Jonathan ($5,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
The Jets arent't fully committed to a rebuild it seems. They seem the favourite to land Trotz (who can turn around the defensive abilities of a team very fast) and I think Toews and him would be a solid fit.
5.
CHI
  1. Holtz, Alexander
  2. Tatar, Tomas
  3. 2022 1st round pick (NJD)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
I would not trade DeBrincat unless I get this type of trade value back. A second overall pick, a second that would become a first (if NJD wins a series before the 2024 draft), the 7th OA pick of the 2020 draft who just had a ppg season in the AHL and a player.
NJD
  1. DeBrincat, Alex
Additional Details:
Ok, would I do this as the Devils ? No. But the Devils have shown interest in moving away from the 2nd OA pick for an impact player. In this case, a 2x 40G scorer who's 24yo. You also aren't re-signing Tatar. You give up on Holtz and a 2nd, but while both take time to develop, who knows, Cat might be even more productive with Hughes. You have 5 to 7 players in the roster that were 1st rounders, time to gamble ?!? Having won 1 playoff game in 10 years would also make you do this.
6.
CHI
  1. Mrázek, Petr
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (TOR)
  3. 2024 4th round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
$3.8M with two years left for one of the worst if not the worst goalie this season (that's why I ask a 2nd) who also has a history with injuries (that's why I ask a 4th). Leafs aren't willing to give a first rounder or an A prospect (they have a few) but I doubt they would care as much about a picks in 2024. There is also the urgency to free money.
TOR
  1. 2024 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
I just put a 5th instead of the classic '' Future Considerations''

Detroit's LW is Bertuzzi and Vrána on the top two lines, he is a 3rd LW on the Wings, for the price you asking maybe, but why?

laugh Detroits LW core isn't that strong, Wrong Bertuzzi and Vrana are country miles better than Kubalik would be our 3rd line LW right now due to Robby Fabbri being out with a torn ACL in his right knee.

This team would have no problem finishing 32nd but I doubt some of the moves proposed.

Seems like a lot of thought went into them so top effort for that.

True forgot about Fabbri and I also thought he was a center. It doesn’t make sense know with Veleno also at 3C. To be honest it’s just Kubalik for a 3rd. Any team that wants him

Wouldn’t be so sure pal. You’re looking too much into potential. A scratched player in favour of a guy like Strome playing on one leg and a Kravtsov that the Rangers didn’t even use last year. Maybe change the 2nd into a later pick but don’t think that the Rangers wouldn’t even look at the trade offer.

Yeah I agree the least probable trade amongst all my trades. Do you think they are still willing to spend another 2/3 years trying to build with their youth?

I don’t think they are as far away as many think. Last year they improved in all areas but a total collapse in goal. Dressed 8 goalies last year. Even had to sign EBUG for a game since they had run out of guys.

Most of our holes can be filled internally through our pipeline. So I much prefer the conservative approach.

Rangers don't consider it for even a second, pal. Not for a 1 year rental of Kane or any player.

Then I really hope you extend Andrew Copp knowing that the RFA’s are coming. A first, second, a pick and a player for a 3 months rental ? That wouldn’t be fun to watch “not for a rental or any player”.

I'd do that if I was in Chevys chair, would want to find another team to take a quarter of the rest of.Toews cap hit, he'd be a great 2/3C to have at $2.625M, that is if the plan is to actually try and win and if Toews would waive obviously.

It's nice you're so concerned about the Rangers. I think Drury will take care of it, so don't worry yourself.

When that trade went down I really thought NYR had no shot at doing damage in playoffs…as it turned out- they did….and for it guys like Chytl, LaF, and Kakko got an education well worth “trading down” by giving up the 1st rather than the 2nd.

At this point not sure where it goes with Copp- they may be victims of the small sample of success…but whatever happens there- moving Kakko would be a big mistake unless a C with top line potential is part of what’s coming back. I wouldn’t read too far into the Game 6 scratch. Moving him to bring back a 1 year rental would be a terrible mistake.
