Rangers don't have the cap space long term for David Pastrnak.

And Taylor Hall isn't waiving for Washington, Unlike Boston they need to rebuild as well..

McAvoy like Marchand is out until at least December if not longer.

This is bad for many reasons. However, the most unforgivable is having Swayman in the minors.

This would be pretty interesting for the caps. I don't think they move Backstrom's contract just yet as there is still a chance (however small) that he comes back in a year, and I don't think either Boston or Washington would add him into the deal until they knew for certain he was done. Would definitely be intrigued by hall, especially for such a cheap price. Would changing sheary to another future, like Protas or another second make more sense?

should get more quality>quantity for Pasta (although I think he just re-signs)
Hall gets more
horrendus deal for Bruins. Hayes might have the worst contract in the league and Debrusk is a better player regardless
