Assuming Caufield, Suzuki, and 1st overall are off the table, what would it take to get one or both of Zadina and Veleno? Is Josh Anderson a player Detroit could use? And what would Montreal have to add on top of that?

To be very honest, both players individually probably have the value of a 2nd round pick.

Although, I don’t believe any team would give say, a 1st round pick for both. If that were to happen I would imagine it would be like a 2024 1st round pick as opposed to a 22’ or 23’ considering the expected quality/depth of the next two drafts.

Personally if we were to move either one of them, I’m not sure a non-first round draft pick would be worth giving up on either one.

I would prefer one or both be attached to a draft pick from Detroit’s end to acquire a young quality NHLer.

I would trade both of them for either Brendan Gallagher or Josh Anderson, preferably with some (any at all) salary retained.

It’s pretty hard to value Zadina at this point but if we were to trade him now I’d want back another young guy with similar potential. You could probably get Veleno for around a 2nd.

The gage of both is probably around a 2nd round pick are what they each value at, but it would be very hard to justify giving up either one without it being for a first round pick, and I fully expect any team to turn down a 1st round pick ask for either one. Detroit is really in a spot where they aren't desperate to trade them, so fully believe neither will be dealt, because '22 and '23 Draft class picks are pretty slim pickings because of the quality of the draft classes.
