I have no idea what the Caufield and Romanov contracts will be, but given the 10.2(c) status and that they’re ineligible for offer sheets upon expiry of their ELCs, the team has leverage on 2 year bridge deals if their long term asks are too elevated.

Fleury probably retires by 2024 lmao yeah petry doesnt land the 18 oa without retention or a bad contract going back to habs.

this is clearly not the direction the team is going. They will keep moving out contracts and building a core with the young they bring in/already have. Both the caufield and romanov bridge are asking for trouble. Dont need a repeat of Subban.

We’ll see. He’s one year removed from being a top 4 D of a Stanley Cup finalist. And was in the Norris conversation at the start of the 2020-2021. Hardly an overly onerous contract when compared to UFAs who will command 7 year terms at higher cap hits.

Fleury won’t need to play the whole season. Signing him will allow Price to go on LTIR when his body needs it.

Win win for all those involved. Allows everyone to extend their careers and he’ll be an excellent ambassador in this market when not playing. Quality human being.

Unless Kent Hughes plans on retaining 50% on Jeff Prety, There's no way you're getting the 18th overall pick for him.

Just like we wouldn’t be able to trade 4 years of Weber’s contract for a 20 goal scorer (last season) on an expiring contract?

You really comparing Vegas cap issues with Petry? Vegas had no choice they needed to unload Dadonovs contract. But Jeff Petry isn't the only RD on the market. There's absolutely no freaking way that Jim Nill is giving up the 18th overall pick without retention being added to Petry.

Now this is a fair offer for both sides, This i can see Nill doing, Very doubtful Dallas takes on Petry unless he comes at $5,000,000 x 3 years. By the time they sign both Oettinger and Robertson 85% of their cap is gone.

Pretty sure Hughes would take Khudobin, but no salary is getting retained. There are multiple teams willing to take that contract as is.
