If you want Florida, a team whose looking to win now, to retain 5mil for 4 years, Thats going to be the price.

I think leafs pass. Bobrovsky is a dump. You could find a better UFA goalie in 3M, saving you 2M after retaining

so, why does Bob waive to take a 13% pay cut in ontaro provincial income tax compared to Florida's 0% on a team that has no better chance at the cup than the one he's on?

I love how Leafs fans are prepared to trade the farm to clear Mrazeks 3.8 x 2 but they also turn around and want Bob at 5 x 4

I don't think there's any sense in having that conversation, because I don't think they would do that.

While I hear what you're saying, there's the flip side to that coin, too. If Florida wants a team to take Bobrovsky, they may need to pay a hefty price to have another team take him, even if salary is retained. That contract is an albatross . . . Even a team with oodles of cap space would be nuts to take it on for nearly half a decade. Some creative work would need to be done, I'm sure . . . likely involving a 3rd team.

Holl isn’t worth a 7th. He’s worth at least a 4th or a 5th

100% dont see the leafs wanting to make this trade. But if you are florida and you view Bobrovsky as a dump you find a team to dump him too and pay the price but if they retain half of him he isnt really a cap dump at that point.

I do agree this would make a lot more sense as a three team deal with that third team taking a large retention than florida, that being said the end result would still have the leafs paying a decent price. I think they have their goalie already and just need to work out an extension with Campbell.
