Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2022
Published: Jun. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Short term contract for Sandin. Not a ton of money, but certainly more than Toronto could afford for him, without getting rid of someone else. And it costs a 2nd rounder. Sens have spent 2nd rounders on worse things!

Wouldn't it be easier to OS Hague? Or does Sandin better fit the D pairings in OTT?

Kyle Dubas will move out some bodies, So he easily matches that offer sheet on Rasmus Sandin.

I love Hague, only reason I went for Sandin is he is a right shot. They could use another possible top 4 right shot D. Sandin could be that one day.

As @TampaBayLightning22 said the leafs will move out some bodies which will allow them to keep Ljilijgren and Sandin as cost controlled young defenseman that are very important in their cap crunch. So I doubt that the Leafs will not be able to match those offersheets.

To anwser @dtd_tank question Hague would be a better fit but there'd be a lot of competition from other teams and because Sandin is smaller in stature I don't think that the Sens who love big players overall. Less than 5 players in the organization under 6ft. I don't see them going out and getting Sandin.

Sandin playing future with the Leafs is uncertain however with the resigning of Giordano they now have three veteran defenseman a head of Sandin on the LHD side so I don't know where he factors in if they want to play him on their off side.

Is he right shot cause he plays the left side and if you're playing him on his off side Brannstrom pretty much does the same thing.

Ya thats my bad, he is a left shot. He was listed as a RD. All your points are valid. DJ doesnt like guys on their off side! Even if they got him and flipped him for something else, I think its a worthwhile exercise at what it would cost you. Hague would be a huge get as well, but there would be a lineup for him.
