Sharks decline, don’t think they are adding anything in a trade like this. If anything it’s the other way, not that San Jose needs another goalie

Caps don't do that SJS trade. VV is better, young and cheaper than Reimer.

Don't need Schultz.

Kadri will be fun for like 1 season then that contract will look horrible. Let McMichael be the 2C and use that $7.5M (actually $9.5M after no signing Schultz) on something else.

Nazem Kadri is looking for $8,500,000 x 5 years.

Filip Forsberg isn't signing with a team that will be trending down in a few years.

Tom Wilson is out minimally until February. He'll be out most of the season.

Eller, Hagelin, Fucale, 2nd for 3rd

Easily take out either the 2nd or Fucale.

The Caps are already going to be an LTIR team, why bother trading Hagelin? He might not even make it back onto the ice again.

Management still has to pay him real dollars. It's a business that wants to minimize expenses at the end of the day. Why didnt caps just trade for Bishops contract and get a free 7th Rd pick? Bc it costs them money.

Respectfully... dont think so. Lots of contracts Buff could take on to meet the floor - going to have to pay up. Would be cool to keep fucale but he is likely a lifer AHL 1A/B. Easily replaceable

Hagelin is due 1.8M in actual salary for this season while his cap hit is 2.75M. It's actually more advantageous to use his cap hit on LTIR to grant more space than he's actually due in salary. Not to mention, this trade has dumping his contract with a year remaining on it with a solid 3C, a decent third goaltender, and a second round pick for a third.

still 1.8M in real dollars. Dont really get your point - the advantage in this is that other teams are more likely to accept their contract bc it helps reach the cap without having to pay as much money. He also has to fail a physical to go LTIR - can't just scam the league if its not legit. You better hope he doesnt get healthy at some point?

He has a career threatening eye injury. It's a long shot he comes back at all.

I'm saying, why give up a second round pick plus other assets that have varying levels of positive value to dump Hagelin? It's not worth it.
