NYI Blockbuster

Created by: Blazingbat11
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2022
Published: Jun. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think the value is more than fair consider the conditional pick going the other way to NYI. At worst they move down 15-20ish spots to a high 2nd rd pick the following year, or at best they get a 1st rd pick back that could be as good (if FLA collapses) or only 7-10 spots down from where they currently are at 13th.

Don't pay too much attention to the other trades...just having a bit of fun.

Acquired Lucic just for a good laugh.... just to see what the dynamic would be between him, Gallagher, and Subban (FA signing) all on the same team.

I'd also like to bring in JVR from Philly. Not sure how to make it work, but moving out Armia and Byron somehow (either in the same deal, or all separately. Whatever works) would be needed.

PS: For my fellow Habs fans.... I think the NYI deal can be done without the conditional pick... just adding it to appease the crowd... shhhhhh

So the NYI giving up the 2 best pieces in the trade is fair value?

I knew adding adding the 13th overall was being too greedy lol

In all seriousness, I think a deal around Anderson and Beauvillier could make sense for both teams, You can ignore all the extra I added.

tbf it could get you something but not as much as people seem to think
drouin could probably get a first or second half retained (if he manages to put up 50-60 pts with a healthy season), anderson however i have no clue

Anderson for Beauvillier makes no sense at all. Anderson doesn’t fill a need for the isles and his contract is too long/expensive

Hmmmm, out of curiosity, what are the Isles needs? Weren't NYI in the reported rumors for being interested in Anderson?

Isles needs are a winger that can drive play offensively with a high hockey IQ and a decent two way 2nd pair left hand D (with above average skating) to play with Dobson.

Never saw anything about the isles

Yeah, I found it. It was just an article that was written by a Isles reporter, nothing concrete, just speculation.

        https://nyihockeynow.com/new-york-islanders-anthony-beauvillier-josh-anderson-kent-hughes-canadiens/

I mean, Anderson does fit the description of winger that can drive play. Not sure where all the hate suddenly came from for Anderson....

Player who drive play are usually good playmakers - Anderson might be the worst passer in the league. He’s a solid 3rd liner, isles have plenty of those.

Two pieces the Islanders don't want or need and a major downgrade on draft day for Beauvillier and Bellows.

        What's not to like?

I'd also like to put this here...

        https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/player-compare/

mind you, it was an up season for Anderson and a down season for Beauvillier. They still both posted .5ppg seasons. I'd like to think this is enough to put this garbage to bed, but alas...

Habs fans in general are often delusional in their ACGMs on this site (not all) but a lot of them as for almost every team, but there are so many Habs fans here so it’s more noticeable I guess… the thing that’s bother me the most though is how Kent Hughes somehow gets a 1st, Ty Smilanic and a 4th for Ben Chiarot lol from Bill Zito of all GMs… he also gets Justin Barron and a 2nd for Artturi Lehkonen, a very good depth piece for sure but that’s a lot… he also got a 2nd and a 7th for Brett Kulak he was worth it for sure but I thought someone would get him for a 3rd at most, getting a 1st, Emil Heineman, a 4th and a 5th rounder for Tyler Toffoli was also very good business… aaand just recently the Evgenii Dadonov for Shea Weber trade is very good business. 1 year of Dadonov that they can use with Nick Suzuki or Shane Wright/Christian Dvorak and will be a good player for them until trade deadline and then they will get something for him retained. This in contrast to 4 more years of Weber on LTIR (8M) for a rebuilding team that would be terrible because Hughes probably doesn’t want to spend to the ceiling… the Martin St. Louis move is looking good so far too. I miss Marc Bergevin.

I will not be surprised if Josh Anderson gets traded for way more than he’s worth lol. It will be fun to see what some team will trade for Jeff Petry, he’s probably getting traded soon.

I think the Lehkonen and Kulak trades were fair trades, agree on Chiarot. The Habs Stanley cup run gave him a ton of market value for whatever reason.

I am confident Hughes will get more than in a trade than Anderson is worth (based on his on ice impact) but it won’t be from the islanders because he doesn’t fill a role that they need.

Yeah no way Lou trades for Anderson, I’m confident in stating that. I think Philly could trade Konecny straight up for him or something stupid like that lol.
