Pittsburgh blows it up - Crosby wants out

Description
First this assumes that Malkin and Letang both walk. Also assumes that Crosby doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild (that’s the part I find hard to assume as I think Crosby would be very loyal to Pittsburgh up until maybe his last 1-2 years in the league)

So Pittsburgh wants a change and young picks and prospects to start the rebuild.

Colorado wants to build a dynasty and the obvious connection of Crosby to Mackinnon is there. Cap space is obviously an issue so I think it’s actually more likely this happens next offseason when cap gives teams an extra 2-3M. But here is the skeleton of a trade

Agreed but you don’t need Crosby when you have mackinnon at 6M. But when he gets his 10M, you lose depth so you might need a Crosby next time around

If Crosby approves a trade Colo would probably be one place he would be willing to go. A good team and his friend MacKinnon

Byram too important with big injury to G. a Better fit is Newhook and PIT would be wise to accept; Newie looks like an electric young talent.

As long as we're playing what if in fantasyland, let me turn this around on you...same scenario, Geno/Tanger do walk and Sid toughs out 1 year and talks MacK into signing with the Pens the next year? We would certainly have the space to pay him full value.

Ok nice try to be witty there but the support staff in Colorado is far better than Pittsburgh. If mackinnon were to go to Pittsburgh, they wouldn’t even be as good as Colorado is now and when Crosby leaves there will be legit nothing.

It’s actually not outrageous at all. Dreger had mentioned it last year as a possibility later in Crosby’s carreer.

Please don’t tell me Colorado support staff WITHOUT Malkin and Letang is the same as Colorado. Please don’t tell me that…oh god! Please don’t. I am begging you not to say that
