Description

2 move shakeup. Probably taking a small step back but open the doors for the younger guys to, literally, run wild. Playoffs this year showed they're not gonna be competing immediately but have a good foundation. Ride out 2 years of buy-out dead cap and then come back strong. Talbot and Freddy Gaudreau are good deadline pieces if the team is out of playoff contention.

moves rationale:
-RFA for RFA swap with Detroit. Clear downgrade in talent for the Wild but get a chance to take on high ceiling Zadina plus late picks. Fiala likely pricing himself out of Minny but ultra talented
-Dumba to Caps gives them defensive depth, sending back a good young goalie with upside plus a good pick for this year. Cap clearing move but gives Addison more ice time. Dumba wouldn't be coming back next year anyways

Seems like a low return for fiala but I take it for Detroit. Honestly though I hate the idea of trading Zadina without seeing him with a new coach.

Then dont include him in a trade offer as if other teams value him the same way. He's the type of case that another team takes a flyer on, not considers a high value trade option

Do you know what thread you're in? I didn't propose anything, I simply stated that Detroit isn't trading Zadina without a meaningful return.

So another year with no centers, the d-corps getting worse, and questionable goalies. The only thing missing is the signing of an old PIT retread (McKegg wasn't there long enough and wasn't a Cup winner).

Carlson, Jensen, TVR are already locked into the right side. And Schultz was garbage lol, not much to replace.

Think you can get more for Fiala. Zadina has potential still but if he’s the core piece I would imagine a first would need to be included. Assume wings fans would think that’s too much on their side but I think there’s probably better fits for a Fiala trade anyways.

Caps don’t really have a need for Dumba so don’t think that trade makes sense - also if you’re moving Fiala I would think you keep Dumba.
