Leafs - Tavares Sign and Trade in 2019

Created by: danny_danger
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 20, 2022
Published: Jun. 20, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The narrative has shifted that Tavares was a bad signing and, because of this, I decided to create a 2022 Leafs rosters based on the premise that the Leafs traded Tavres in 2019 to NYR for Shesty and Miller.

I don't see Tavares having positive value these days. Little off topic but just saying.

76-point player this past season….

He has positive value.

They didn't acquire his rights prior to FA, so a sign and trade wouldn't have made sense.

Also, Tavares had way more value than the two of them.

If Leafs put him on the market what team would have the $11M in space + assets to trade for a 31-year-old center?

Joel Eriksson Ek is going nowhere. Marcus foligno is going nowhere. Keandre Miller is damn good and Rangers aren't trading him. Minnesota isn't trading Jacob Middleton for Rasmus. Under no circumstances are wild trading a selke candidate player every year and position of weakness for Kerfoot. Easy no as Minnesota doesn't need a d, much less two. Kerfoot is nothing and doesn't help Minnesota. Igor is going nowhere

Phantasy team or not that Minnesota trade is terrible all around for the wild. But I expect nothing was for a leaf’s thread.
