Hot dog Phil won’t go to Minnesota. He has previously blocked trades to Minnesota.

Skip the CHI trade and don't sign Kessel and the team is better. MN would be 2 scoring lines and top tier shutdown line for the top-9.

Strome might be an upgrade from Hartman, but he's never had 30g or 60p in a season. He also costs twice as much.

No chance you get both Holtz and Smith for Fiala. I‘m fairly sure you even won‘t get one of them but thats just me.

He blocked the trade to MN because Paul Fenton was the GM and he questioned the direction the team was heading. He would come back to this team now that he’s gone.

If I'm NJD I'm taking this for Fiala. From CHI, if we aren't signing Strome this is a no brainer.

Minnesota declines. They aren't trading greenway to take on strome. Greenway was given extension for a reason. Minnesota doesn't do devils deal either

Here is more reason he blocked trade: tax reason

If there's one thing i know about rich people it is that they aren't going to pay taxes anyway. How big of a factor could this really be?

Kessel had 52p last year, on an AZ that scored a total of 206 goals. He's not singing a sweetheart deal to play for a pretender team like MN.

The team arguably has less direction now than it did under Fenton.

That wasn’t from Kessel, that was that dudes opinion. Russo reported it was because the reasons I stated above.

Source? I have yet to hear Kessel or anyone close to Kessel say this.

I’ve actually heard the opposite on Beyond the Pod, Pat M has mentioned him as a right shot PP FA Target. Pat M (former gopher) called Vanek to MN when others were saying no. Pat M has deep connections with former gophers, he wouldn’t just throw it out there unless he’s heard there’s a desire from Kessel’s camp. Now whether BG has any interest is another story.

To say this team has less direction than under Fenton is blasphemy.

Russo’s article on the nixed trade. Not a mention of taxes being a factor.

I think the Beyond the Pond is a bunch of random speculation that tosses out random players with MN ties to keep the fanbase excited and tuning in. It's not solid reporting. I could care less about a former a guy with gopher ties. Russo hated Fenton, he will say anything he can to make him look bad.

Seriously what has Guerin done to make MN a better team? What's the plan going FWD other than hope and pray Kaprizov is good enough to carry a mediocre team into the Playoffs by beating up on bad teams every year?

I mean Pittsburgh reporter / Arizona knew more about reason why Kessel rejected

It played a factor in Phil Kessel becoming an Arizona Coyote and not a Minnesota Wild.

That’s what people say when they don’t like the answer given, if they said something you agreed with, it’d be the best source ever lol. Discrediting a Podcast won’t work with me, those two have connections and I’ll trust them over you. Russo is damn good at his job, I’ll trust his reporting over you as well. Lou Nanne hated Fenton too, is Nanne to be trusted? Fenton was hated by everyone. That doesn’t change the fact you’re making stuff up and have no sources claiming Kessel will not come here.

Um the Wild had its best regular season in franchise history, got career years out of tons of players lol. I’d say the path is pretty good. You’re letting the postseason performance eliminate the entire regular season.

Russo doesn’t mention this at all. Which is why I don’t buy it at all. It makes sense that this came from Fenton. The truth hurts Fenton way more than “but taxes”. That’s the ultimate knock against a GM when a player rejects a trade to your team because he doesn’t think you are building a contender and they question the path forward. Further proof of Fenton’s incompetence is Brock Nelson told everyone around him (my buddy who coached him included) that he planned on signing with the Wild when he became a FA. When we brought in Fenton that all changed, no one respected Fenton. Brock stayed in NY and we lost a potential C. I understand this is hearsay, but thought I’d share.

Have you really looked at their season? Beating up on bad teams and getting spanked by the teams that matter was the Wild's season. They had 2 total regulation wins and 9 regulation losses against the Playoff teams from the Central. One of those wins was a throw away game for COL where they sat everyone they could. Even if you throw in the gimmick 3v3/SO their record was still a 2:1 loss ratio. This was with the team having career years by everyone, and unlikely to all do the same next season.

Nanne is literally on the Wild's payroll, so there is no objectivity from him. Russo, when he actually does in-depth articles (rarely now), is still a very good reporter. Anything he doesn't put in print is hogwash. The podcasts are junk. There is no accountability for things that are wrong so they can say whatever they want as long as it keep people tuning in. They all play nice because if they don't they'll possible lose favor with the team and not get the interviews or play spots that they need for their ratings.

I rarely site anything that isn't stats related and don't take any of the talking heads at face value. I form my own opinions about things.

So you just made it up that Kessel won’t sign here, got it, at least you admit it.

No more made up than he will sign here.

At least I used simple logic by looking at what he should be paid, how much cap space MN has, and the team's needs. Not because some guy on the radio says he will.

Much more made up actually. The radio guy actually has connections and knows Kessel personally lol.

There is a path for the Wild to clear cap to sign him. I don’t see him getting a ton of term or money.

Kessel would be a pretty terrible signing, IMO. Though I don’t think there’s a chance in hell he comes here.

Lol if Fiala’s style clashed with Evason, I can only imagine how bad Phil would.
