Zacha is more valuable than Bear. Bear likely doesn't receive a QO and becomes a UFA this summer.

That isn't really anything for MN to be interested in. It's just stuff.

Minnesota passes.

And it's doubtful you're getting Kevin Fiala for anything less than 8 years $64 million.

He's a 5th round pick. Ranked 7th by Wheeler in the Devils prospects rankings as recent as March 2022. I've seen Devils fans say Kaiden Gulhe, a 1st round pick and one of the fastest rising prospects outside the NHL as worthless to them!

No one is underrating him, he's just not valuable. At best he's a role player. No one is saying he will be a star player

He's a smaller KHL player heading into his D+4 year and can't be signed for at least another season (if ever). He had a good rookie season he's not putting up Kaprizov or Panarin type of numbers. The Russian factor is real, it's NHL guarantees or they stay in the KHL and make more money than the AHL salary. He's nice to have in the prospect pool, but not something that has a lot of trade value, too many risks.

Its amazing to me how ppl overrate bottom tier prospects and think other teams will jump at them meanwhile wont even touch a top prospect because they arent guaranteed to reach their 'ceiling'

The only thing that is real is the bias

If you all want Alex Holtz instead, go right ahead. I think Grit is a better prospect though, so that’s why this was my offer. If not, it’s incredibly easy to walk away and just make a UFA signing in this pretty strong winger class w/o giving up assets

That is a very big reach from the "experts" rankings. My personal rankings of MN's prospects is out of synch with the norm, but I stick with the experts when suggesting trades so things don't look really funky.

Would Holtz replacing Grit push you to take the deal?

The Fiala part, yes.

I'm not a fan of Talbot, but he's the only goalie MN has right now, so it's kind of hard to part with him even though I want to. MAF would have to re-sign before I'd trade Talbot. Trying to find 2 UFA goalies with only limited cap is might not be possible and MN ends up sinking their season before it start (Dub/Stalock years).

I would still do it with Holtz.

That makes sense with goaltending. I feel the same way about trading Blackwood w/o a replacement already found, and that’s WITH the cap space to find the replacement lol
