Carlo is good but sacrificing another 1st round pick. Arizona got a great one in 2021 with Dylan Guenther.

I think it depends entirely who's available at 15OA. I'm looking at mock drafts with Cutter Gauthier and Jonathan Lekkerimäki available. Imagine if Nazar and Yurov fall. So is this a draft floor trade?

Yeah it would more so be a draft floor trade, this draft isn't great depth wise so i could see a guy like Carlo being more valuable to our management group

top 15 pick in a draft to a team that's about to enter rebuild for a 2nd paring Dman seems like pretty good value to me

A 25yr old Top 4 RHD signed for 5 more years would be part of that rebuild. McAvoy is a year younger at 24yr old, should they trade him for a rebuild too?

McAvoy is also one of the best RHD in the league who has 8 years left, it takes about 4-5 years as is to rebuild, Carlo would be 28 looking for a new deal the next time the bruins are competitive, think it would be wise to take the assets to help hurry the rebuild

The 2nd is going the wrong way. Use Lindholm/Muzzin's deals as comparables (1st, 2nd, 3rd).

Carlo will be 30yrs old when his contract expires, not 28yr old. Also quality top 4 RHD are not easy to find which is why people pay a premium for them. There are a host of reasons the Bruins are unlikely to trade Carlo.....

McAvoy is out till December
Carlo is their PK horse
The lack of depth a RD for Boston is a concern

I don't see Boston rebuilding, they just don't do it. Re-tool? sure, but there not going to tear it all down and start over.

tbf i have the 2nd coming this way because the canucks first is higher both than the ones traded in the Lindholm/Muzzin deals, Bruins would be moving up 35 spots, i think Vancouver could add another 3rd to sweeten the pot

All the more reason to trade him if he will be 30, With Bergeron likely retiring and Pastanark wanting out it makes little sense for you guys not to rebuild, having Marchand and McAvoy out that long likely kills any chance at them getting the 8th seed in the east

Pastrnak doesn't want out, that BS rumor was destroyed by Pasta and his agent. Bruins & Pastrnak already have plans to talk extension as soon as the CBA allows for them too. They just signed Lindholm to an 8yr deal, this team isn't going to rebuild.

Agents and players say that stuff isn't true all the time, if the Bruins don't rebuild they are going to be just missing the playoffs for years to come

I think the signings are a little optimistic as a Canucks fan. No reason for Boesser to sign a 2 year deal for < is QOs. MIller isn't taking a 4 year deal particularly for $8mm per, Horvat is probably closer to $7mm per year, Motte won't sign a 1 year deal...

LOL so then why are they meeting in July to talk about an extension lol. IDK that I'd say they'll miss for years to come. There are still some pretty awful teams in the bottom of the East and while they're making improvements they still are a few years away. Boston this season has guys like Marchand, Pastrnak, Hall, DeBrusk, McAvoy, Carlo, Lindholm & Swayman all under contract. At worst they are a bubble playoff team right now. Add Bergeron back in (maybe Krejci) and they're a playoff team again. They're going to squeeze everything they can out of Bergeron's time and until he retires this team isn't rebuilding.

And Bergeron could still retire as soon as this season. Fluto Shinzawa sure ain't optimistic about him returning

Fluto also was the clown that said Pastrnak refused to re-sign as long as Sweeney was the GM....that was quickly debunked. There's a lot of factors in Bergeron's decision, most around his family. Now maybe these things don't matter to Bergeron, but he has some pretty big milestones that he'd likely hit next season:

In Bruins History
3G shy of 3rd all-time in goals
43A shy of 3rd all-time in assist
31P shy of 3rd all-time in points

Throw in that this season Boston will be hosting the Winter Classic and there is appeal for Bergeron to return. He also got surgery done early this off-season likely with the intention to be ready for camp should he decide to keep playing. Its not like Bergeron is just clinging like Joe Thornton was at the end. Bergeron is still an impact player at 36yrs old. I'm sure if he wasn't still playing at a 60-70pt pace and being a Selke finalist every year then the decision would be easier.

Hope you're right. I'm not a Bruins fan, but I might pay to see Bergeron return just to hit those milestones you listed. So much respect for him as a player and a leader

I'm very much against "athletes as role models" but Bergeron is my exception to that rule. Really hope that when he retires he does some kind of biography about his time in the NHL.

Yeah, solid 6,4" defenders garners a mid first round pick+ just out of their scarcity!
