You really think he's going to make much more than 5.5? I'd have him at 5.5-6 max.

Money is about right imo, but I'd be shocked if he left Colorado. The Avs value him highly, and he is comfortable there from a personal standpoint, which is apparently very important to him. He looks good in the lineup though.

Someone is going to pay him 6.5. Might not end up too well but I feel like it’ll happen.

I 100% agree that the most likely scenario is that he stays in COL, maybe even at a slight discount...I would just love to have him on the Jets haha.

I have absolutely no complaints with that move at all.

He’s not going to WPG for 5.5, another team with a more ideal location would offer that and he’d go there. Russians typically pick coastal cities…never been to WPG so I can’t testify to whether it’s a nice place or not but it’s cold as hell and not on a coast

Winnipeg can be great, it also sucks at times. You have to be prepared to live in the cold. It’s an incredible market to play in, and the organization is top notch and treat their players like gold. Guys leave here and they realize how great they had it while here.

The taxes are what kills winnipeg and many other Canadian cities. Unless the player is willing to use an RCA which allows them to pay a flat tax fee of 25%. They just have to cut all ties with Canada upon retirement.

I suspect that is what Dadonov did when he signed with OTT and didn't have MTL on his no-trade list.

Yeah most international players are fine with it. It’s the Canadian born players that it’s tough to make that choice. But after you cut ties for 2 years you’re able to return to Canada.
