The value is decent, but there's no incentive for Winnipeg to wait a year for the pick or for the Jets to accept 5 lower quality pieces instead of 1 higher quality piece. Typical quantity for quality deal.

2023 draft is reportedly deeper than the 2022 draft, and the Jet's already have two 1st rounders thanks to the Rangers making it to the conference finals, albeit the pick is only a late 1st

Yup. There's just no incentive or reason for Winnipeg to take a step back and trade away their center depth that took them 3 years to find and wait for those other players to hopefully develop into something close to Dubois.

PLD isn’t the type of player Yzerman has targeted but rather shipped out. What I mean by that is he’s given up on Columbus and just floated which is a character issue. I’d also point out that this would’ve been a higher return than Eichel at the time of the trade so I’d rather pass here and target Trocheck/Copp.

DET declines. Atleast you are trading a player that DET has a positional need for, but Stevie does not tolerate divas so doubtful PLD would be on his radar.

Also personally not giving up that much for PLD. 2023 pick should be low and with the draft so deep, that pick should be better than PLD.

PLD floated and gave up on CLB which is a character red flag. Yzerman has shipped out guys for character issues eg Mantha began to float, AA having issues + floating, Drouin not wanting to go to AHL, Tony D, etc.

In short, if a player has compete issues then Yzerman isn’t looking at you especially not paying a premium for you.
