Easier to skip over a back and forth about Eichel, because I'm fairly confident that we could go on about that for days tears of joy

Yeah, this should be something that Ottawa is interested in. I'd probably bang on the "Top 1" or "Top 2" protected drum, but adding Murph and DubCat would be a heck of a move for Ottawa.

The one thing I'd worry about here is the fact that the Melnyk's, even without Eugene, still own this team, so the idea of a massive Cat extension seems like a bit of a stretch. Big money for both him and Stutzle in the same offseason would be hilarious though.

I think top 2 protected would be a fair ask for that 2023 pick.

Thanks for the feedback, valid points. Setup a AGM with that idea, would be interested to see the responses. I think Greig is highly valued by Ottawa fans over Formenton.

I set up a month or so ago after talking with csick about it some. Didn't seem to have much push back and csick liked it. The cap dump was Murray instead of Zaitsev, though. Just posted it up. So, we'll see what happens.

Cheers! Only reason I'd be worried is that I'm not sold that adding Dub/Murph puts the Sens over the playoff hump, especially with TB/FLA/TOR there, and a super strong Metro (not to mention that Detroit and Buffalo *should* both improve). A much better team for sure though. Can't imagine Dorion would be dumb enough to forget how an unprotected first from San Jose basically ruined the Sharks for a couple of years tears of joy

Take out Zaitsev and that is probably a slight overpay for Cat alone, depending on where that 2023 1st ends up. But with Murphy involved and the Zaitsev dump, I really think there needs to be one of JBD, Lassi, or Brannstrom involved. Also, I would probably prefer Formenton over Greig, if we are looking for someone to eventually become a top 6 winger. Yes, he will probably cost more in the short term but Davidson has said more than once that he wants to play a skill game with high end skaters. Greig can play at a high tempo and be quick in small bursts, but his skating overall is below average for NHL players. It's looking like he projects as a pesky checking bottom six forward, maybe 2nd line if he can work out some of the kinks with his skating.

As a big DS9 fan... I agree with this post.

That's fair, but depends if the Leafs want the rights to Strome. If they do, this makes sense to me for both sides. If they don't, then you are right.

to be honest i think robertson will be the better player. id love to have stome and all but robertson has a shot that can be very dangerous

From a Sens perspective, I think it'd be a much more palatable trade if there were top 5 protection on the 2023 1st, and switching Greig out for one of the defensive prospects (Thomson/JBD) and then add another smaller piece to make up for the value, like a prospect along the lines of Latimer, or like, Tampa's 2nd round pick. that being said, if I were Dorion and Kyle Davidson said "this is the only offer, take it or leave it, or else you're not getting DeBrincat", I'd do it. It's just pretty brutal to see the both the Sens' young, 3rd line centre options go in the same trade.

Without the Zaitsev for Murphy swap, or by adding JBD/Thomson, I wouldn't do it. I wouldn't even consider

I wouldn't pay one iota more than the proposed deal.

It won't happen in the real world so people will start to see more about Pinto and Greig to understand what I am saying right now (unless injuries derail things, of course)

They both have as much value (or close) to the 7th OA pick from this draft (ok draft is not a 2020 or 2023)

As for Greig being "a pesky checking bottom six forward", this is not his game

His game is like Brad Marchand. Yes he won't reach that level but I think people get confused because of his playing style.

In the first 4 games of the 2020-21 AHL season, Ridly Greig was probably the best player on the ice, at 18 years old. That's when I started to understand that he might be more than I initially thought

Honestly I could potentially see this happen

I got a feeling Mrazek is ending up in Chicago but if it was like this or in a 3rd + Hirovinen or Abruzzese type way I dont see anyone complaining.
