Marner for Bratt straight up is pretty close not considering any contract stuff... So that isn't really a close deal.

I think it’s a fair trade tbh if we can’t re-sign Bratt.

Devils are better off keeping Bratt due to cap flexibility. Holtz, Smith, and 2OA we’d do

No need for Smith on the Leafs. Hotlz doesnt hold the same value as Bratt. I really dont think either team would do this move.

Tho Marner and Hughes just sounds like an unreal threat!

Yeah I don’t honestly see this type of trade happening between these teams

I don't think the Leafs want the #2 that bad. Deal may be there in value, but Marner is in his prime and plays great with Matthews. Any draft pick isn't going to be contributing close to that level for 2-3 years, and that's not what they want right now. Makes them worse short term. I'd love for them to get Bratt, but not at that cost.

You also can't LTIR Muzzin, because he's healthy and actually good at hockey.

Also not sure the Leafs want to make that Edmonton deal. Not saying value is bad, just not sure it would be super helpful. I'd love to see Sandin and Lily take another leap this year and be ready to be top-4 guys when Brodie and Muzzin's contracts are up.

Yep agreed, you never know the value of a 2OV and Bratt might have hit his ceiling. I think Bratt is a great fit for NJ and I wouldn't want him gone.

Yeah. I don't think it's super far off. And I despise the Devils.

Very similar shot & passing data this season. Bratt gets the edge in transition success. Marner gets the edge in Defensive performance. It's just a matter of what you're looking for. Here's a good breakdown of the context by Hockeyviz who do pretty great work.

Wouldn't you rather have Cat for Holtz and 2OA? Personally, call me crazy, but I'd rather have Cat over Marner given the contract status; I see Cat's RFA status, a year younger, performance on a bad team, more valuable then Marner who's a UFA in 3 years, carries a larger cap hit (even after Cat is extended), and plays next to a top 2 player with Matthews.

Yeah I would prefer Cat cuz I think his game better compliments Hughes. Marner is the better player tho

I would agree but once you look at contract status, cap hits, the different teams they played on and a proposal of Smith, #2, Holtz for Marner versus #2 + Holtz for Cat; to me it's a no brainer you go Cat every day of the week.

Plus 3 first rounders and a blue-chip prospect and the leafs would maybe think about it. No probably not. Why would the leafs trade the best 2-way winger in the league. Top 5 in scoring the leafs best pk forward. Their best playmaker. The guy is worth every penny he makes.
