I can't see BOS retaining that much, nor can I see them dealing Marchand to a division rival.

Boston doesn’t retain but not the worst offer I’ve seen

This is fair value for Marchand retained imo

No hate, just love. Would be a great addition, however I'd probably point out that retaining $9 mil would probably cost you something along the lines of Robertson/1st, which leaves you with Topi+1st+1 year of Kerfoot for Marchand, which simply isn't enough.

Division rival? I can't see that being it. Maybe Knies instead of Robertson or something gets it closer, but I just can't see it.

Imo too much for Marchant. Also to avoid haters in the future, just 'buy-out' Mrazek. Nobody wants him.

With him starting the year injured, hard pass by me.
Especially considering how much it will take to get him.

If Boston wants to rebuild who cares. Marchand will be too old in 3 years

I don't think Marchand would agree to go to Toronto, if they had to trade Pastrnak, a deal like this would make sense, with Pastrnak instead of Marchand. No retention though for the fact that they are division rivals, ofc they would trade either player for the best package available, and I'm sure other teams would give a better package.

They are still retaining 3m which could be used to accumulate assets over those 3 years. They aren't going to do any favors for a division rival without heavy compensation

I guess I'm just not sold on what that package becomes. Robertson has some potential, but the rarity with which an undersized forward actually develops into a productive NHLer can't be understated (especially given that size has played a large part in Robertson's injury history so far). Kerfoot to a rebuilding team adds nothing-Sure, you can turn around and try to flip him, but that comes with it's own dangers. Topi has a solid ceiling, but how many times have we seen offensive dmen in Europe turn around and amount to very little on a NA ice surface? Yes, I get that he put up outstanding numbers this year, but it's another large question mark. Then, it's (more than likely) two late 1sts.

Is it a decent offer? Sure. But to trade a perennial allstar to a division rival should absolutely hurt which, IMO, this doesn't.

Way too much to give for a guy who just had double hip surgery, Marchand isn't due back until sometime in December. He's out up to 6 Months.

He's not worth trading unless for all that too. That's why I said this trade would maks more sense if it was for Pastrnak without retention.
