Word is GIbson is disgruntled and wants out so this might not be a bad Idea, but i know Anaheim would want a haul for him.
If i was NJD I would also look at dealing a package to Arizona for Chychrun! He would solidify that top 4 D and along with Gibson in net and the offense your building this could be a playoff team next year budding into a cup contender for next 4-5 years!

I think it all depends on the long term plans for Graves and Severson. Top 3 within the next 1-2 years will be Dougie, Siegs, Hughes. Add Chychrun to that and you've got no room for either of the other 2 guys unless they're on sweetheart deals or you use them as trade chips in a few years.

never hurts to have too many D and you know how much people pony up for even decent RD guys right now.
be nice to have 1-2 D stashed away that you can add to a package for a player, plus at least 1 would have to go back to Arizona for Chychrun anyways.
I'm not a NJD fan just spit balling Ideas here!

Gibson has explicitly stated that he's NOT disgruntled and DOESN'T want out, so you can either believe that he's being truthful or believe that he's lying.

He has a 10 team no trade list. There's a decent chance NJ is on it.

I don't know honestly. I just remember seeing a Rumor he is unhappy about the constant rebuild that is going nowhere, but that could have been a nobody churning the rumor mill for clicks.

I don't know, I'm not a NJD fan but you have to be blind to not see the deep prospect pool and the young talent that's getting a solid footing in the NHL on that team. they are 2-3 pieces away from a playoff contender with ample cap space, starting Goalie top 4 LD and another gifted top 6 guy and this team could be dangerous.
combine that with a good fan base and the shorter travel schedule being in the met division and they seem to me a team players would be interested in going to.

Yeah, it was a rumor last week (or the week before? I can't remember...time is just cruisin'), that Gibby had said that he was open to a trade, and the next day he grabbed Eric Stephens of the Athletic to say that was BS. I don't have a subscription, but it's a solid piece that basically says that he's very happy in Anaheim, wants to win in Anaheim, and is excited to see what happens this summer.

The reason it was going nowhere is the fact that Bob Murray was a terrible GM when it came to rebuilds and holding onto "his guys" (Lindholm, Manson and Rakell). With what Verbeek did the few months he has been here has sped up the rebuild a lot faster than we think.

If that trade for Gibson was offered, I think they do it for Foote and Boqvist (even though you need to resign him). Tatar still has some skill and would be fine, but he is a cap dump with just the one year remaining.. Blackwood would block Dostal for this year as a backup. But is a throw in just cause.
