100% sure Carolina doesn't take that and about 80% sure New Jersey does take that.

I think he could already. After this season he'll finally earn his Veteran card and will be eligible to receive more minutes from Bednar and a bigger role.

I mean he could it's not like he's in a high pressure position Rantanen or Nischushkin both are solid wingers and on the other side Lehkonen did solid for himself as well. I don't see him out performing Kadri, but it's not like he's gonna flop like Jost. (Yes I know that's a soft point for Colorado fans)

Carolina has given Bear permission to talk to other teams, pretty sure they'd take this, can't see them getting a better off than this.

yeah I'm not sure tho. Ranta isn't exactly a player Carolina would be looking for tho.

The 3rd alone is probably the most they'll get, anything else would likely be a bonus.

The organisation doesn't seem to believe in Newhook at center. He was given opportunities but it's telling that he's played mostly wing and that the front office went out and acquired multiple centers (Meyers and Sturm).

Johnsson's salary after signing bonus this year is only $750k... Gotta think that makes him attractive to afew teams trying to reach the floor. It also opens up the possibility of 50% retention if NJ arent going to be a cap team.

After acquiring 62, Sakic said it gave Newhook a winger to play with.

Sturm is a pending UFA and was a Jost upgrade; better suited for 4th line doing the two things Jost couldn't: faceoffs and being physically imposing. Based on performance, I'm not certain Sturm comes back. Rumor was, he turned down a multi year offer from MIN for a bigger payday. Seems he's planning to use the spotlight of playing for a contender to raise his profile. If he wants to come back for cheap, I'm sure Sakic agrees, but if he's still looking for the money it will come from another team.

Meyers is a level below Newhook and looks to be a younger/faster Helm. I don't view them competing for the same role. Both would have just completed junior year and Meyers is more than two years older. He's certainly outperformed his Undrafted pedigree but not Newhook's output. The eye test shows Meyers looking like a Yelle, with a mature game, compared to Newhook looking like a Duchene with all the flash and dash. 18 matched 37's points in basically the same role, in just his rookie year; I expect a lot more from Newhook, former 1st rounder, when he can get more top six minutes.

which is why I said I'm about 80% sure NJ does take that.
