That is true but 1 year rentals still can be traded at a high price and for a star like Kane it will be high especially if they retain which they probably will unless a team with cap can take him.

I was thinking of having the Hawks retain 50% of his salary but then I put Muzzin into the deal.

Matthews and Marner idolize Kane as he is their hero........So I am not going to be surprised if Kane one day joins Leafs to play with both Matthews and Marner.

Or Matthews leaves to play where ever Kane ends up.

Matthews would be crazy to leave Toronto.......The Hockey Media Centre of the World and also leave Marner who will ensure he scores 50 goals every year.

Are you kidding?........Matthews absolutely loves the bright sportlight of playing in Toronto.

Toronto is one of the biggest cities in North America......And Patrick Kane would be jumping for joy to play in Toronto for the Leafs......He played his junior hockey for the London Knights in Ontario and has fond memories of living in Canada.

He was a kid then, he's matured a lot and now has a young family. He controls his destiny and if Cat does leave I believe it will open the door for Kane to move too. My take would be that it would be to NYR or LAK.

I have also heard that if they trade Debrincat ......then Kane wants out.........Enter the Leafs to pick up Kane.

Davidson also owes Dubas a favour......after he leaked a proposed Leafs/Hawks trade at the deadline to the media.

No favours there cause Davidson did nothing, They discussed it behind closed doors. Our old management gave out enough favours around the league, if KD starts to do the same then he is the wrong guy for the job.

Looking at the lineup above thats probably the worst bottom 6 and goaltending in the league with few prospects on the way. Just not sure getting beyond the first round is done by having a weaker forward corps and goaltending. The leafs have consistently shown that each year theres a different weakness (Depth or defense or goaltending, etc...), yet the roll on with the top heavy cap structure expecting different results.

To think that with Matthews and Nylander (and Brodie and Muzzin) just 2 yrs away from UFA the Leafs haven;t made the 2nd round is give your head a shake moment, and maybe having cheaper and lesser quality 6-13th forwards and goaltending probably isn;t the answer.
