I feel like doing that makes it a bad deal for Pittsburgh

We move up to #12 and get a higher 2nd round pick. I like Marino but Matheson needs to play top four minutes he his growing into a stud

Marino doesn't block Matheson though?

Marino is a righty so he isn’t blocking Matheson. Especially considering Matheson is already in their top four.

Matheson and Marino don’t mesh well. I’d rather move one of them, get assets and cap space

Chris Johnston said Mikkeyev will get 4-5 mil in FA. I think that would be a big overpay but still

I absolutely love the team tho

You don't think? Their numbers together last year were actually pretty good

I think Blueger is perfect for the Sabres. Idk if PIT will actually move him but Im definitely all for it.

Correct two offensive guys. Marino was held back hence why a dip in offensive numbers

Marino scored at a higher rate with Matheson than Pettersson so that doesn't really hold up

Look at his rookie stats compared to this year. Trust me I love Marino, but a cap strapped team trying to maximize window with this core should look to move third pair defenseman for cap space. Because marino would be deployed third pair how good Matheson has been

I'm looking directly at his stats with Matheson vs Pettersson. He scores at a higher rate with Matheson. So that doesn't explain the drop in points. He had an outrageous shooting % his rookie year - that's why his point total was that high. The last 2 years is more like he actually is.

And again, he wouldn't be deployed 3rd pair because of Matheson's play. That doesn't make any sense, they play different sides.

I’m not a fan of pairing them together. So one would be on pair 2 and the other on 3

I mean that's fine if you don't like them together. That's you opinion.

I was just trying to figure out why you count Marino as a 3RHD because the whole Matheson blocking him doesn't make any sense. They play different sides, and play well together.

Well, we're still happy to do something like this Marino trade, so once y'all work it out between yourselves, give us a call. wink
