Wheeler is from Minnesota and would likely be on his 5 team trade list.

Which team would be the highest bidder instead?

That player being born from Minnesota isn't a legit reason. Minnesota isn't taking on him. Much like Justin Holl thing by leafs fans, or Boeser by Canucks fans. Wild fans don't care about homegrown players, neither does Guerin

In no world is wheeler worth that. Not even close. Minnesota declines easily

That's not what's being asked here.

Well Minnesota still declines. We are in cap hell and not taking on older players, nor lockerroom cancer. Tampa, Colorado, and Minnesota all declines. Florida does too.

          1. Wheeler's trade list of 5 teams is dictated by Wheeler himself.

So, Minnesota might be on his list.

Whether Minnesota wants him or not is beside the point.

          2. Once again, which team would be the highest bidder for Wheeler instead?

I don't think Wheeler would accept a trade to Chicago though.

More of an idea on the value whether than if it works or not. I just feel like an 8 mil 36 yo that’s lost a step doesn’t have that much value, even with retention.

With all due respect, it would probably be Boston and those four other teams shouldn't be on that list for different reasons

Then, make sure to vote for Boston.

I mean Tampa: depends on if they are able to keep players they have to resign because they don't have to pay tax

Florida: same thing: depends on who they keep and let go. Both Florida team can keep any players of own due to no tax

Colorado: you take what is offered in terms of extension or take a hike

Minnesota: too many needs, no cap, and have been going with younger players with speed on top 4

So Boston: make all the sense but don't because they are trying to get rid of cap

If Wheeler has negative value, you can vote for the team that would accept the least amount of compensation for taking him on.

No sense in beating around the bush.

Zito is not dumb... He will not trade for an overpaid, old winger like wheeler. That is the last thing the team needs.

Didn't Zito just trade for Giroux?

Giroux is an elite winger who had one year left on his contract and was half retained. Plus he could play center some. Not at all the same thing.

          1. Wheeler has scored about a point per game in every season since 2015.

And can score at that pace during the playoffs as well.

That suggests to me he's an elite winger too.

          2. Wheeler is not a rental compared to Giroux.

          3. Winnipeg would offer to retain half of Wheeler's salary as well.

          4. During the entire history of the Winnipeg Jets, Wheeler could play centre some as well.

He can't right now because Scheifele, Dubois and Lowry occupy the centre position in Winnipeg currently.

          5. It might not be the same thing, but it's similar circumstances.
