Wheeler trades

Created by: End_of_the_Laine
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2022
Published: Jun. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
After July 1 "Modified NTC: Player submits a 5 team trade list (2022-23 and 2023-24)"

I am only including teams that can realistically take on Wheeler's cap hit, locations he would like to realistically play and live as well.
Trades
1.
WPG
  1. Henrique, Adam
  2. 2022 5th round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
This would require Henrique waiving to come to the Peg, possible the Jets however would want to avoid taking even that kind of money back.
ANA
2.
WPG
  1. Girgensons, Zemgus
  2. 2022 4th round pick (BUF)
BUF
3.
WPG
  1. Gardiner, Jake
  2. 2022 6th round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Gardiner's missed last season, Cane's will want to move his $$ but may be reluctant to take on Wheelers kind of $$. Not a likely destination but who knows.
CAR
4.
WPG
  1. Khudobin, Anton
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Again the Jets will most likely have to take a bad contract back for Wheels, I would suspect they'd want a higher pick for Wheeler if he's traded in division.
DAL
5.
WPG
  1. Anderson-Dolan, Jaret [RFA Rights]
  2. Walker, Sean
  3. 2022 6th round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
LA has loads of cap space and prospects and may be motivated to pay a bit more for Wheeler. JAD is a B level prospect who can slide into the 4th line. Walker is simply a bad contract who'd end up being an overpaid 7th D man or buried with the Moose.
LAK
6.
WPG
  1. Tatar, Tomas
  2. 2022 4th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
Devils have three 4th rounders
NJD
7.
WPG
  1. Lindblom, Oskar
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Flyers have three 3rd rounders in 2023, Lindbolm is an overpaid 4th liner with one year left now who the Jets would likely have to take back. Wheeler and Tortz would get along!
PHI
8.
WPG
  1. Donskoi, Joonas
  2. 2023 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Donskoi is another over paid 4th liner with 1 year left, Jet's could get back the 4th rounder they gave the Kraken previously.
SEA
9.
WPG
  1. Dickinson, Jason
  2. Ferland, Micheal
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
AND another over paid 4th liner in Dickinson, Ferland a MB boy who likely wont ever play again, Jets would stash him on LTIR. Wpg gets rewarded with a 2nd for taking 2 bad deals.

Totally disagree
The Sabres do need goal scorers, & Olofsson is a goal scorer
Even if u did wanna trade him, you’re getting terrible value
Just terrible

We'll just have to disagree then.
Of course every team needs goal scorers. But there are other 20 goal scorers hopefully on the team already.
I think wheeler is a great value, not worth his cap hit but fortunately thats not an issue for the sabres he scored 4 less goals and got 11 more points in less games. Maybe he makes mitts and asplund 20 goal scores on.a "3rd" line. Sabres have prospects to call up for injury, so games out is almost a benifit. He's a playoff veteran with both bruins and jets, and has had a C for years. As a 3rd line right wing to play with a developing center (any developing center as its all we have) he has plenty of value, a players abritration elgible last year rfa rights on the other hand not worth much either.
Olofssons a great shooter, and he'll be paid for it. Its not where i think we should put our money when you look at our developing defense, and lack of center depth.

Again, trading Olofsson would be ok
As long as you’re getting a good return & not a declining 36year old with a huge Cap hit

Winnipeg should be paying us to take the Wheeler Cap dump off their hands

Then move Olofsson in a separate deal if u really want to,
and actually get some value back for him

I think their new GM has a plan, don't think he's giving away one of his last few decent players away for so little in return.

I dont think the return would be little. If the jets gave up NYR's first, Harkins, Stanley (or other prospects) plus there would be a market for Wheeler at 4.1 AAV.
But I guess they need to fill that 5000 college stadium with skilled NHLers

That's essentially the Copp return for Schmaltz who has like three or four years left on his deal, they can surely get better and adding Wheeler cause of what trade value we think he might have means nothing to Arizona.
