I'll take what we have over what the Canucks have every day of the week

More second round appearances than the Leafs in the past 15 years

Lol I’m not continuing this pointless squabble

Imagine being the person making a extremely poorly thought out ACGM, going onto defend poorly thought out ACGM, and then begin insulting other fanbases because you can’t accept that your ACGM just makes no sense

Wow going off and saying something completely irrelevant and unrelated to the conversation. Color me shocked. If you’re so upset about me replying to you, go ahead and add me to your ignore list

You're right, nucks are a wagon frfr. Wagons fire their coach midway through the season

And it's not like the Canucks are stuck in mediocrity like some people believe, there are legitimate ways for them to improve themselves this very off-season, not to mention their core isn't as old as Toronto's. Lastly, OEL's contract is actually buyout friendly in a year unlike Tavares is

Yeah must suck having to buy out a player you just traded for, meanwhile we have no reason to buy out JT

The team knew it would be a possibility when they traded for him. Doubt the same thinking was taken into account when signing Tavares

Gonna blame us for a bad GM? It’s not like we have any control over what our team does…

I don't know what you consider tier 1 prospects but I don't think those guys ever get traded. Niemela is a top 25 prospect in the league (according to many, many lists), could see Knies getting swapped with NRob here.. Not that this trade would ever happen but when considering trades of the past, its not horrible value

I will try to ignore the cringe baiting and trolling from earlier in this post and answer you honestly.

A tier one prospect would be a player who projects higher than middle of the lineup. Robertson could be a decent middle 6 scorer. Niemela had a good season, probably has top 4 upside. Knies I like a lot but again we’re talking a 2nd liner ceiling. Lots of quantity, but no A level piece

For reference, Canucks rejected Chytil, Lunqist, and a 1st for Miller alone. Lundqvist and niemela have similar value. Chytil has more value than Robertson. So literally half the package you offered does not land miller on his own.

The other half? A cap dump, another late first, and a good forward prospect in knies. Simply nowhere near enough for Demko alone. I sincerely believe the Canucks would not trade Demko for the 2nd overal pick from New Jersey, let alone the package you have here.

So, this package does not lend miller and Demko. Splitting the package in half does not one either player individually either.

If the trade was for only miller at 50%, we’d be talking probably liljegren, knies, and a pick. Since Dubas didn’t want to trade a 1st at the deadline, I extremely doubt he would have any interest in trading a package that big for miller.

Now consider that Demko is more valuable to the Canucks than miller is. The package to get Demko would have to be massive

Honestly, was only trolling due to the absolute overreaction to the trade. I will say that your projections for the prospects are off, though. Robertson would be a decent middle 6 scorer in the NHL tomorrow. He projects as a top 6 winger with 40 goal upside - Debrincat comparable. Knies' ceiling is much higher than a second liner, he's generated at a first line prospect rate in the NCAA and has very clearly elite tendencies in his game - guy could end up being an absolute star, not saying its likely but his floor is much closer to the 2nd line than his ceiling. You're right on Niemela, likely a top 4 guy.

I also want to say this trade would ONLY happen if VAN decided to blow it up for some reason. They shouldn't trade either of these players but obviously if they decide to tank and not compete for the next few years, this is the exact package they'd be looking for

I think we will have to agree to disagree on the prospect projections. I am probably less bullish on prospects than most though so very easily I could be underrating them.

I think it was much easier to take established players over prospects a few years ago but the talent level is so high in young players that they seem to hit the ground running more often than not
