Description
I’m likely being greedy with the prospects here. Honestly wasn’t sure how far to go. I’m sure florida would like to win now but knight isn’t ready and Bobrovsky has been replacement level on an elite level contract. Florida doesn’t have the 1st round picks and dumping that full contract while getting a top 5 goalie on a quality contract back would cost a significant amount. Jeannot is just to kind of numb some of the pain. He was a rookie this year but he’s on the older side of rookies.

Nashville gets a capable enough starter on a bad contract that can keep things afloat until Askarov is ready. Maybe he will continue his performance from this season around .913 sv% but even then he’s about 4 mil overpaid. They get a bunch of promising futures for their trouble.

If Forsberg leaves, it’s better to take a step back and regroup instead of giving up lots of assets trying to maintain mediocrity. If we end up being bad this season, we get a high pick in a loaded draft and the young players get playing time. Possibly move out a couple more pieces at the deadline. If we play well, then it’s just a win win.

What say you? Too much? Too little? Doubt florida would basically empty their coffers but if you retain 3-4 million on Bobrovsky you’re going to spend that much getting a replacement to hold things together while knight gets ready to take over and then you end up in the same cap position you were to begin with.

NSH can do way better trading Jeannot and Saros than that— and taking on all $10m of Bob? NSH should be getting waaaay better quality in the return. Love getting Lundell, but that’s about it. Interesting idea though, I just think FLA needs to offer up more value.

Either that or we replace Jeannot with Trenin or something like that

Isn’t Florida looking to move bob to give knight the opportunity? We’ll and to move that contract. I actually like the trade but bob would have to waive to Nashville as well

Yeah, if the plan is to trade Saros and take on Bob, it probably works better if those are two separate deals. See what FLA will give you for taking on Bob, then trade Saros to a different team for a big haul of futures.

Bob could be a good mentor for Askarov as well

Knights only played 36 nhl regular season games and he’s only 21. I think it’d be best to shelter him for Atleast another year or two. His sv% last season was only .908%. I just don’t think he’s ready to shoulder the starters share. They are still in win now mode it’s just Bobrovskys caphit is atrocious for his results. If they retain, they’ll spend much of their cap savings getting a replacement which is why I went for a swap. They get younger and cheaper in goal allowing them to retain giroux, marchment, Chiarot, etc. they might still need to move hornqvist but I’d take him on too if needed. We have the space if Forsberg walks and we look to retool. I think bob might waive to go to Nashville. It’s about as close as he can get to where he is now geographically and still no state taxes.

I’m really high on Lundell and he’s a huge ask for them to part with. The other prospects look promising as well.
