It will almost definitely cost more to move Nemeth and Drouin is not worth close to that.

So does just Gauthier and Lundqvist get that done?

Assuming no retention? A 2nd gets it done. Maybe less depending on if Habs management wants to move him or not.

You really don't want him at center though.

As an Habs fan, you can get Drouin for a lot less than that, Drouin for Georgiev and 3rd max, i would say

I just worry about the Rangers depth at center and if they sign Copp or Strome long-term (4+ yrs), they will have trouble signing their RFA's next summer (Laf, Miller, Chytle)

I would be all over that deal as MTL.
I wouldn’t touch that deal as NYR.

There are so many better options at 2C. Two of them were on your roster this past year.

Soft W dump is not an option, for most teams actually

Seattle and maybe no team takes M NTC Nemeth from the Rangers. A massive overpay for Drouin. And really do you want to that close to the cap with bonuses to pay.

Honestly Drouin for Nemeth is pretty close value wise. Drouin isn't a C (hasn't played there consistently in like 5 years) nor a top 6 player. You can condense those 2 deals into 1. But it doesn't really solve any problems.

I feel pretty comfortable with saying there is no chance Montreal would consider that.

Drouin at 50 % retained for Nemeth (if you want to dump his bad deal), Georgiev and Lundkvist/2nd is more than enough to get it done tbh as a Habs

his buyout is only 1m, him in the AHL costs 1.5m. It won't cost much, Arizona or another team will take that deal.

Imagine if a GM actually brought his team into a season with $8,000 in cap space and no 7D

Lol. So Nemeth for Armia (if you want to dump his bad deal) Montembeault + Guhle/2nd is more than enough to get it done tbh as the Rangers.

The best move is giving the kid line a shot at the 2nd forward line. If it starts to implode then you can trade for a big name center at the deadline after you have accrued more cap space.

If you wanna use Drouin as a 2C, replace all the picks and prospects for the rangers 2023 1st. Hell, the Habs can retain 50%. I just want that 1st rounder if your plan is to play Drouin at center
