Love both of those trades, but I don't think Carolina would go for that

I think I'd be willing to throw in Connor Brown as I heard rumors of him being traded, and rumors of Giroux coming here

I highly doubt that just throwing in Brown will make the Canes trade Necas. Canes don’t want to move him, and won’t move him unless they are completely blown away by an offer. Something that you would be stupid to refuse. I don’t doubt that JBD and Jarventie will both be studs, but Necas still has some star potential in him that the Canes just need to unlock. They are hoping a move to center will bring that potential out, much like what happened with Aho. The rumor is a young dman ++ for Necas. Still a rumor, so a grain of salt should come with that. You can probably add something else on to that in order to force the Canes hands, since the organization absolutely adores Necas, and don’t want to trade him.

Me personally, my guess is that the Canes would want a normally untouchable piece, and a couple of other good assets as well.

On a completely different note, what would it take the Canes to get Formenton?

Formenton is tough... speed to burn... plays special teams... shown some offensive touch this past season. With Joseph being a similar player I could see the sens seeing him as a movable asset. sens having interest in bear, pesce and necas but not picks and prospects at this point may make it difficult if you think necas is almost untouchable...

I never said Necas was untouchable. I know that the Canes organization adores him, and they don’t want to trade him, but by no means is he untouchable. You would have to pry him out of Carolina, though. Every player is available for a certain price. Just depends on if you are willing to give up the assets. Also, Pesce isn’t getting traded, as right now he is untouchable.

For Formenton, would the Sens do Bear, Lorentz (who could fill Formenton’s role), and a 2nd?

I dont think so... lorentz and a 2nd do nothing to move the needle for the team now and that's the only way they will take off their current roster

What about Bear, Rees and a 4th? Or Bear, Suzuki, and a 3rd? I really like Formenton, and I think he would excel as a Nino replacement.

Again same issue as the first trade... if formenton leaves its in a package for a significant player upgrade
