Yeah.

I just don't see Sergachev getting a top prospect back. LHD don't carry that kind of value.

No, it's Not Fair. Take Out Edvidson and reduce the 2nd to a 3rd Or just make the 1st rounder Protected

It's fair once Edvinsson is taken out. But I'd agree that there'd need to be some protection on the 1st.

Top 10, maybe?

TB doesn't do it then maybe take out Zadina. TB since 2013 has 1 time traded a defenseman and not got one Back ADA and he was a get the f out of here thing

TB should be able to find a UFA as good/better than Kulikov for the same cap hit or cheaper. I don't mind the trade for MN's PoV. It just seems like a waste of a pick for team that doesn't have many picks.

Sergachev IS NOT worth a prospect of Edvinsson's caliber. Not by a long shot.

Fine but NOT a chance JBB does that trade as is without him. So, it doesn't happen.

Not sure why JB would want to trade Serge anyways until after next season. Even if they don't win this year, they still seem to have a winning formula, the cap casualty is probably Killorn from the signed guys.

If Serge is extended then perhaps McDonagh is moved in the following offseason

It's not about disrespecting him, he hasn't done well in the playoffs yet which makes parting ways with him easier, but that isn't the reason. With Point's extension kicking in, they might want to move him for some flexibility. As much as they would love to keep him around, he's lower on the list of guys to move. Would you rather move Serge? Or try moving Stamkos or McDonagh? If they approach Stamkos again that would probably be viewed as disrespect if anything.

McD has a full NTC and his modified trade clause doesn’t kick in for a bit so the timing doesn’t align.

Forget Stamkos really resign Paul get a vet min defenseman and run with the kids. Killorn's numbers are down however his play really isn't and Killorn has always been on the streaky side

Between the players coaching staff and front office only Video coach Nigel Kirwan has been part of the orginization longer.
He probably takes 3x3 to stay next year and thats a no brainer. His play not only hasn't dipped the last few seasons they have been the best of his career.

They asked guys with trade protection if they would waive last year, luckily for those guys none of them did. Depending on their performance next season and if they do win the cup this year, it's possible that McDonagh would be willing to waive and move 100% on his own terms, rather than getting moved when the M-NTC kicks in.

Edit: Misunderstanding. Disregard.

It's surprising that you take issue with moving Killer but not Stamer. Sure, moving Stamkos would allow them to potentially retain more guys but he's such an important guy in the locker room and he can still play, 2 more years and they can lock him for cheaper. Good thing he gets a say in if he wants to stay or go.

Edit: Disregard the Stamkos vs Killorn talk

He only has a year on Stamkos in the organization and Stamkos has been on the actual team for several years more.

They might take resign Paul before Killorn has the chance to sign that. Although, they are ~2m over the cap with 11 forwards and 5Ds i think, not sure how much LTIR flexibility they have from Seabrook's contract

Stammer is NEVER gonna happen I don't even entertain it as a remote thought. He's flat out said he isn't waiving.

McDonagh’s M-NTC begins January 16, 2026. Sergachev will need a new contract next year. If your sales pitch is of McD does bad he’s more willing to move then that’s odd because he won’t be as coveted. Second, how do you do a sales pitch to someone saying you’re going to leave a powerhouse of a team in the best possible earnings/weather to play elsewhere? This notion that someone will do it for the betterment of a team they no longer belong too and have developed relationships/roots in the community is illogical.

That Detroit isn't very fair. Edvinsson has the potential to be as good or maybe even a little better than Sergachev. It's more than likely Detroit won't make the playoffs so that 1st will be a lottery pick in a very deep draft.

What I meant by "their performance" is TBs, not the two players. To clarify, If Tampa wins this year and goes out second round next year for example, perhaps McDonagh would be willing to move to a different contender if he was wanted there.
