Jets are Screwed

Created by: tsyls
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2022
Published: Jun. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Jets have found themselves in the worst possible scenario.

There’s some clear issues, and some big changes on the horizon. The scheifele situation doesn’t seem to have been resolved as of yet. Dubois has indicated that he will test free agency in 2024. The team is exploring a wheeler trade. This is absolute worst case scenario and likely leads this team to a rebuild, expect to see everyone besides Ehlers and Connor on the block. Jets will have a busy draft day.

Also this could lead to trotz not being the coach who’s hired as he’s not likely going to join a rebuilding team.

Trades are just in here for the idea, value is definitely off on some.

Source on Dubois not wanting to stay?

Intermission said he told the jets he wanted to test free agency in 24.

It’s really quite a tragedy and could end up costing this franchise for many years to come.

The team did it to themselves allowing the dressing room issues to grow without stopping it.

Could be a rather crazy blockbuster a brewing if bobrovsky will waive for Winnipeg and wheeler waives to Florida

I think the original source was Scott Billeck, the Jets beat writer.

Moving Helly would be a mistake unless henindicates he won't be extending. Easier to draft a top C if they do end up rebuilding, there is no guarantee that they manage to develop an elite goalie and probably aren't going to attract ufas even if they had a team built up front.

If they can, they better drag him through a rebuild id they do go through with one, if not they better have a couple of potential replacements in their system.

Helle will be 31 when he signs his next deal, really not sure if he's a goalie thats going to age well, should probably be traded before he gets to UFA.

If they are two years into a rebuild already, they should stick with him if he's willing to stay unless they get a solid replacement that is an rfa.

Hellebuyck is the guy who thought WPG was on the verge of being a dynasty, which tells you how much he wanted to be around. They probably won't find a goalie like that after their rebuild, so they better be getting a highly touted goalie prospect coming their way. Otherwise, they might just end up always being mediocre because they can't secure a descent goalie, and then they find themselves in another rebuild.

Honestly, they are just better off retooling.

Time to load up on as many 1sts in the next few drafts, going to be rough, but got to bottom out fast with as many firsts as possible. Be bad for bedard

I just don't think he'll age well, his next contract is likely going to be an anchor before the ink dries.

He's delusional and makes strange comments all the time, I think its some kind of defense mechanism or just that he's weird like most goalies are.

They're too many pieces away to just retool, especially with Dubois wanting to go to UFA and Scheifele clearly wanting out, they pretty much have to blow it up.

Crazy how far they've fallen, unfortunately they're likely not going to be bad enough to get Bedard, they had their lottery luck when they got Laine but they fukked that up!

How many years before they're the Houston Jets?

The league might as well quit, if they can’t maintain 7 Canadian teams. I don’t go to many jets games, and not exactly sure how people do it, but damn would it be a shame if they are lost again. Fanbase is kind of there biggest problem some days, seem to have such a short pedestal time, then thrown in the heap until the next guy shows. Kind of tough to have anything nice. Not that many crosbys or mackinnons to be had, hard working superstars that say little. Ya no panic button or nuke to be had in Winnipeg and bubble time and alienate even the most hard core of the fanbase.

Well the biggest star they're likely to ever have dropped in their lap in 2016 but they fukked that up, what really irks me about the whole thing is Laine (and Roslovic) had no problem with Winnipeg yet they traded him to appease Wheeler and Scheifele and now both those guys want out and so does the guy they got for Laine, seriously how did they manage to pull off the most epic of ******* up a situation?!!!.. lol 😆
