NYR 2022-23

Created by: Masonh618
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2022
Published: Jun. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Notes:

- I don’t think there’s enough cap space for a 2C this year. Despite all of the dream combinations people make, you virtually need enough cap room to be able to carry 23 players on your team at any point in the season. This team is over the salary cap if you replace the four UFAs I signed with a $5.5M 2C and league minimum players.

- Promoting Lafreniere, Chytil, and Kakko gives them the overdue opportunity to continue off their postseason success and expand their games to new levels. Then if it’s necessary, the Rangers can make a trade for a big name rental at the deadline, because they will have accrued enough cap space.

- I wanted to re-sign Tyler Motte but I have to heed the report claiming he’s unlikely to return. I signed two fast penalty killers to replace him as best as possible.

- I don’t envision any offseason trades outside of Georgiev. I know most Rangers fans, including myself initially, dump Patrik Nemeth but his contract is not attractive to teams trying to reach the cap floor. His contract was heavily frontloaded, so it’s going to have meager impact on a club’s payroll. A buyout is far more likely than a trade, but I do hope the Rangers trade him. That would benefit us more than a buyout.

You trade for Jesper Bratt and don't even sign him, And you don't even have anywhere near the cap to afford him long term.

Bratt was drafted in the 6th round, while Pashnin was drafted in the 7th. Rangers gotta add a sweetener.
