Description
Really looking to improve the future of this team with this one

I saw a few Bruins ACGM trades involving Barbashev and Gryz, figured this would be fair value

Am very interested in the prospects of a Kakko for Tarasenko trade. Kakko is starting to blossom as a very good defensive forward, and don't get me started on him getting benched in the playoffs. Saw some similar trades with him and Patrick Kane, and to be fair, I think Vladdy would be a better fit. Once again, not sure on the value
Getting rid of Tarasenko frees up some cap, and I would love to potentially get Marchment, but I figure the cap room could be used wisely to bring a certain brother home
All in all, got kinda bored, but probably would be content with just Sturn and Gryz, but if the values are right I think this could extend our window much longer than it currently is set up to be

You'd have to address about $5M in cap for Rangers to consider.

That defence would get shredded in the playoffs physically. I know the game is shifting to speed but you aren’t winning with a few big guys and mostly tiny players

Rangers say no.
Kakko is not being moved for a wing, let alone a pending UFA.

Kakko and laf are the core of a 2nd window. Kakko for maybe Robert Thomas. The rangers need centers, not wingers.

Yeah, Thomas requires at the very least Schneider AND Kakko plus a pick. Kakko is not worth what you think he's worth.

If A to Y falls through, Detroit will accept.

Kakkos value is definitely still very high. Played pretty solid in the playoffs and was part of our most consistent line (when GG wasn't giving them only 10min of TOI).

Not saying anything about kakko's value. Im saying we're not moving him for a winger. Also theres plenty of examples of players whove taken a few years to fully develop. Theres a reason a guy goes 2nd overall, and most GM's still see plenty about him that gives him a high value.

Gryz is not your prototypical short offensive defenseman. He is ABSOLUTELY ELITE defensively and can move the puck with the best of them. We need to stop worrying about size and just get Parayko someone that CP doesn't have to try to bail out every game, and Gryz is just that. If you think the blues should pay a premium for Chychrun, or get a lesser, yet bigger dman in Soucy, that's fine, but lets not try to force ourselves to get the next Scandella in FA because he's tall

Wholeheartedly agree with you. Playing a clean game defensively has nothing to do with height, and not all undersized d-men play the same type of game. Grz would be a nice pickup.

You want the entire left side of the Blues defense to be guys 5'9" and under...I don't know what the future holds, but I'm pretty confident that it's not that. I don't think the Blues start next year with both Krug and Perrunovich in the lineup and now you want to add a 3rd undersized Dman. We'll see but I doubt it...

Kakko is a solid player, don't get me wrong. But his value is not nearly as high as it was. Yes, he was taken 2nd overall for a reason, just like Lias Anderson was taken 7th overall, Yakupov was taken 1st overall, etc. I dont think Kakko is worth what it used to be, but I also acknowledge the Rangers have no need to move him. At this point, he's no bust by any means, but at best I think we can assume he has a Nichuskin like arc to his career

His value isn't that high, certainly not close to anything like Thomas. That stated, Rangers have no reason to move him.
