Trades
1.
TOR
  1. DeBrincat, Alex
  2. Johnson, Reese
  3. 2022 7th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Kerfoot flirts with 60-70pts if he can be paired with Kane on a team that won't have much offense anywhere else. Chicago can then flip Kerfoot with some retention at the deadline with a larger haul to help with their rebuild.
CHI
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
  2. Knies, Matthew [Reserve List]
  3. Mrázek, Petr
  4. Sandin, Rasmus [RFA Rights]
  5. 2022 1st round pick (TOR)
  6. 2023 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Leafs upgrade a 2023 2nd to a 2022 1st in order to move the Mrazek contract in this return. Leafs could also include a B level prospect as a sweetener if Chicago sends back a C level with high upside
2.
TOR
  1. 2022 4th round pick (NSH)

TOR
  1. Hart, Carter
  2. Konecny, Travis
  3. 2022 7th round pick (PHI)
PHI

Additional Details:
I believe this to be unlikely, but I saw it on a forum somewhere and thought I'd do somethign different from the typical Nylander trades and Muzzin cap dumps that fly around here daily

There are better ways to get a goalie then to trade a first all star player. You could probably get Hart at the price of a first round pick if you want him.

It's definitely different.

Nice job thinking outside the box.

I kinda think the Leafs could get more for Marner,,,if they are taking on 9.5m in cap, and think it might be overpay for what might be two years of DeBrincat. Hey, like the thought.

The way this is structured, Leaf would have a little under $15M and their only major exipiring contracts would be Bunting, Kampf and DeBrincat's last RFA year.

Leafs should be able to get DeBrincat extended around $9-9.5M a year and would leave them with $4.5M to try and keep Bunting and Kampf.

I'm sure there would be some moves needed to be made in the offseason again to fill out the roster, but the cap space would be there to try and keep him around longer than just 2 years.

Agreed, but as I said in the trade, I don't believe this would happen, but wanted to run with it because it was something different from the ususal Leaf team posts.

Well in two years....Matthews and Nylander will want new contract too. IMO they will be gone.

Leafs don't have a shot at cat. There are teams with way better picks and prospects that are interested.

And I respect that, but it doesn’t even make sense in a fantasy world.

Nylander maybe depending on the teams needs and priorities, but I think it's cynical to think that Auston Matthews would be walking away when his contract expires.

Leafs will have $55M in projected cap space, and the following offseason (2025) they have the Marner extension and JT off the books, plus the cap is expected to go up $10M in 2025 according to CJ and Freidman.

Matthews will sign an extension here as long as this team shows they are still prepared to be competative, the money players can make outside of their NHL contracts in a hockey market like Toronto is also a major selling factor.

That philly trade is short 2 first rounders because those 2 guys aren't even close enough for Marner.
