Everyone Wants Out

Created by: CapsJets
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets

Description
Curious to know what everyone thinks of these trades!

I know I have bias here. but I tried to make them fair ish lol

I know not all of this would happen, but would be cool to see a full on rebuild if Dubois, Scheifele both want out

Trades
1.
WPG
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (CAR)
CAR
  1. Vesalainen, Kristian
  2. Wheeler, Blake ($4,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Jets retain half of Wheeler to make him moveable. Also throw in former 1st round pick, Vesalainen who might benefit from a fresh start somewhere else, and is on a cheap contract for the Canes
2.
FLA
  1. Scheifele, Mark
Additional Details:
Maurice gets his former player in Scheifele, Jets take on some cap in the Hornqvist contract which is why the return is quite high.

Barkov & Scheifele is a deadly 1/2 punch down the middle
3.
WPG
  1. 2023 6th round pick (VGK)
VGK
  1. Schmidt, Nate
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Schmidt was great in Vegas, since missing the playoffs maybe they are interested in getting him back to help the D core.

Don't think he has much value with the contract he's on so I think Winnipeg has to add to allow Vegas to take the contract
4.
WPG
  1. Carlo, Brandon
  2. DeBrusk, Jake
  3. 2023 1st round pick (BOS)
  4. 2023 4th round pick (BOS)
BOS
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
  2. Stanley, Logan
Additional Details:
Boston given the opportunity to discuss a contract with PLD prior to the trade and he signs long term with them. Something around 8 x 8.

Stanley another former 1st round pick of the Jets, Samberg and Heinola have more upside IMO, so Boston gets some size on their blueline after moving Carlo
5.
WPG
  1. Foegele, Warren
  2. Münzenberger, Luca [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
  4. 2024 3rd round pick (EDM)
EDM
  1. Hellebuyck, Connor
Additional Details:
Hellebuyck has said he wants to stay in Winnipeg, but if they gut the roster for a rebuild, I doubt he would want to be here for that during the prime of his career.

Edmonton was a goalie away from being a very competitive team this season. They go out and trade for arguably a top 5 goalie in the league.

I think you can get more for PLD & Helley.

Canes trade is very interesting - not sure how likely WPG is on retaining 2x4 but I guess in your scenario they're entering a full rebuild. I actually would do that deal the more I think about it. My preference would be to get a younger goal scorer but Wheeler is still a very effective PPGish player and would be a good replacement for Nino if he left. 2 years remaining fits as well with when Canes will need some extra space for raises to guys like Aho, Pesce, Jarvis, Turbo.

Not sure if he'd want to come to CAR but I think he only has 5 team trade protection and I would imagine he wouldn't mind coming here to chase a cup.

For the record I'm not one of these bitter Jets fans cause most don't want to play in Winnipeg but who announces this two years from UFA, most of these guys are willing to "play ball" and help a team out but he just sank his value for the Jets, what a fukcin d!CK move!

What infuriates me though is the fact neither Laine or Roslovic had a problem with Winnipeg, FFS what a stupid organization!!

I initially had Puli in the trade, but wasn't sure what Oiler fans would think of that. Same with Holloway. With their cap situation, I figured they'd value those young players on cheaper deals (depending what Puli signs for obviously)

I just think without retaining salary on Wheeler, no team is going to want him. I see the Canes as a team that is right on the cusp of a championship, and I'm not saying Wheeler is the missing piece by ANY means lol, but I figured they might take him for 4 mill, plus getting Vesalainen who has potential, just hasn't been given an opportunity in Winnipeg IMO

Not a bad idea honestly, get rid of Wheeler and take on Bobrovsky. Almost cap dump for cap dump, but yet somewhat fills needs of the opposing teams

Agreed, that's why I have the Jets retaining 4 mill on Wheeler, so his contract would only cost them about 4 mill AAV, plus they get Vesalainen who is young, cheap and under utilized in Winnipeg. Pretty low risk I felt, but I'm always curious to see what fans of the other teams think

Not sure if bob agrees, but could kind of interesting spot to develop a elc tender or two, for bobs 4 years

Yeah true, if he's got any sort of NMC, you have to imagine Winnipeg is on that list lol

As an Oilers fan I would rather trade 2 first round picks for this year and next in place of Holloway. Although I complelty respect the value of Holloway in that trade. The Oil need to start keeping their drafted and developed players only way to get better. But I would love to have Hellebuyck.

Coming from a non oiler fan, I completely agree. I feel like the Oilers need to let their young guys develop. If you have McDavid / Draisaitl down the middle, you will have success (Crosby / Malkin example, build around them with young, cheaper pieces)

But like I mentioned in my explanation, I think the Oilers were a legit (or even average goalie... sorry Smith) goalie away from making a deeper run. Getting an arguably top 5 player at his position in Helle might push them over the top, and you give up anything to win a cup in sports now days. So maybe players like Holloway, or Pulijarvi become available

Yeah I could see adding JP in there before I would want Holloway in there. In addition we could add a goalie prospect Olivier Rodrigue (not sure what WPG has for goalies in their prospect pipeline). But a tandem between Helle and Skinner would be unreal. I would do that anyday.

Probably don't have as good of a roster player as Carlo to add but I assume Lapierre + the next two firsts + Eller + something else. Would definitely be more of a rebuild than a retool package but its three premium future assets instead of one

Agreed. After Trouba rescinded his trade request, he and his agent played ball by being quiet about his plans. It never leaked out that Trouba had a list of one team where he would sign an extension, which enabled Cheveldayoff to get the best return he could from NYR. I remember a report which mentioned Jim Rutherford (PIT at the time) said that he offered a much better package for Trouba, implying he didn't know of the one team list (otherwise the offer would have been lower).

True, ya never know what Jets decide to do, and in this complete rebuild scenario, I could see them accepting something like Lappy, 2 1st rounders, and eat the cap of Eller
