Someone always needs a starting goalie so idk that you would get anything to “take him on.” Trading Bennet to get rid of their starting goalie is a recipe for disaster.

Yeah, I’m sure teams are lining up to get him.

Interested in opinions from FLA fans. I don't think FLA would give us this much to dump Bob, but maybe they would downgrade Bennett to Suter if we threw him in.

I mean, if I was Florida I'd probably think long and hard about doing this (Though I don't think Bob waives his NMC, tbh. Bennett has been a great addition there, but the opportunity to free up $17 or so mil could be too good to pass up. I'd have to know that I could keep Hubie and Weegar on reasonable extensions, but yeah, I'd lose some sleep thinking about this.

Easiest/short term solution is probably just giving up a 2nd to dump Hornqvist though.

I would guess florida moves Reinheart before Bennet based on contracts alone

Like what? How many teams can absorb his cap hit let alone adding a roster players cap.

Easier way to move him would be to swap him for two smaller contracts that are undesirable. It’s far from an ideal scenario though and relies on Bob being willing to waive his NMC. I don’t c that happening.

I mean, I'd imagine that neither are moved to be honest. In terms of players that are moved, I'm 99% sure it'll just be Hornqvist. Moving Bob isn't going to be easy though-half the issue is the NMC.

Maybe you could trade Bob for Muzzin and Mrazek and go from there? Idk tbh. But if ur making this deal for Bob u probably have to send a goalie back tbh. He’s coming off a very good season even if the contract is atrocious.

I think more teams would be interested in Reinheart tbh. I can envision a scenario where the panthers trade him for a pick and a young player on their ELC.

There's probably a less than 1% chance Bob waives his NMC to go to Detroit, so this is all moot.

I would’ve said Bob to Vegas for Lehner and Dadanov but that ship has sailed lol

If Florida is going to dump good players to get rid of a bad contract, why not just trade the good players for real value?

Is Bob worth 10mil? No way.
Imagine helping a rivalry team to get rid of 10mil and not getting anything significant in return. Thats a disaster.

Maybe. I don't think that's the type of move Florida makes though-they're a (very solid) contender, and making their roster worse by selling off a player is a pretty rare thing for a contender to do, especially since the old Blackhawk days. It's why I always get a hoot out of the (please note: The Leafs are being used here as an example, only because these trades are some of the most common) "Trade Holl/Kerfoot types for picks without actually adding anything to your roster and thinking you could be *better* next year" type moves. Panthers showed at the deadline that they don't really care about picks, and nor should they. Their window is open right now, and they should do everything in their power to improve their team.

Problem is that large market teams would prefer the two smaller contracts as burying them would give them more relief. Another factor would be what are the odds Muzzin goes LTIR? Again even more cap savings. With smaller market teams that’s not chump change like it was with Pronger, Weber, etc.

Very unlikely considering his contract + play.

Muzzin to LTIR seems doubtful rn tbh
