0% chance from Anaheim. They won’t be retaining contract on Gibson at all for a 5 year period. That will both impact their winning window in a few years and also they aren’t a franchise flush with cash, they operate below the cap, this is a further constraint

On top of that, the return is off. The first is a good start, but the reason Gibson is expendable is that they have Clang and Dostal as goalie prospects, they don’t need more, so Rodrigue is not attractive. And Lavoie is a total pass

Add a couple more 1sts and the ducks might think about retaining $16M.

Lavoie, Rodrigue and the second don't cover the $16 million retention, and the first is insufficient for Gibson.

I heard that if he wins his settlement, or if they settle for a huge chunk of change of what would remain of his contract, that he will sign for south of 5, for term.

Kane claims san Jose unlawfully terminated his contract, so if he wins the settlement I believe san Jose will have to pay him a portion of his previous salary over the years. Causing kane to sign for less. it happened to LA and mike richards, resulting in LA to pay a portion of his terminated salary over the next like 15 years or something.
