Honestly, the trades, I didn’t really try on, I’ve just seen Dumoulin to DET and I feel it’s a good fit and we could resign him as a 2LD for next season if Albert Johansson isn’t ready for that role yet. Then the other deal was strictly to open up roster spots for our other guys and to dump off Fabbri’s cap hit of 4M for the next 3 years.

The Trocheck signing is definitely needed, as of now, we don’t have a true 2C since Suter didn’t show that he was capable of that job this season.

Casey DeSmith would also be a fantastic add in FA for a backup. We already have our starter/ 1A G in Ned, but we needed a solid backup which is where DeSmith comes in, he has never posted below a .912 Save % while averaging 24 games played every season. If he plays well enough, although unlikely, we could even have our 1A G of the future until Cossa comes in due to him only being a backup because of better goalies like Fleury, Murray (when he was good on PIT), and Jarry all holding him back from more games played. And worst comes worst, he’s getting paid 2.75M for the next 3 years, each of which we should have cap space to deal with that cap hit.


Extensions given towards the beginning of the season:

Larkin: 8yrs x 8.3ish (he’s the captain and our 1C)

Bertuzzi: 7yrs by 6.5ish (he is a top 6 winger that can score and brings grit)
