my problem with trading allen is if price isnt good to go then we're running with a montembeault-primeau tandem which, really, should be an AHL tandem

Habs don't need barrie when they can have better and cheaper alternatives from FA or waivers, they can't afford his contract anyway and allen is staying unless a team wants to overpay for some reason

And there no need to say that Allen might be a premium asset at the deadline this year with is contract situation. Habs will target young players or high draft picks

McDavid just got further from a cup after Holland appears to get fleeced in those trades

Are you suggesting can do better than barrie threw waivers? That might be the most illogical statement made on this site

A lot of AGM's here are undervaluing Barrie.

Difficult to envision Montreal finding a better deal than what Holland negotiated with Barrie. A similarly skilled free agent RD will demand more than $4.5 x2 and there just aren't players of that calibre hitting the waiver wire. Still, I am not sure how that trade benefits the Habs, given they are likely to be in the draft lottery for at least a couple more seasons. Further, I see no point in the Oilers pursuing the deal because Allen does not appear to be a starter, and Skinner will be the back-up.

For what the habs need going into the next season yes ...
When I'm saying better I'm not talking about skills, I'm talking about team needs/salary
