HC Barry Trotz shakes up the locker room edition

Created by: jbjb
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2022
Published: Jun. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Everyone's dream "what if" of the Jets right now just seems to assume a massive rebuild with a fire sale of assets happening. I'm going to come across this from the perspective of a guy who does not believe in scorched Earth rebuilds; instead, let's assume Trotz comes in and Chevy builds the roster for 22-23 to his exact specs to get the Jets back to contendership...

If Heinola in the press box rubs you the wrong way just pretend I have him in the lineup. As far as my lineup is concerned, him, Sandberg and Dillon are all in competition for those last two spots on D.

Surely you can get good value for Scheifele somewhere else but I don’t think he is what the Canucks are looking for

I doubt Rakell signs in Winnipeg and thatis too much for Marchment.

That's a pretty bad return for the Jets to retain $8 mil on Bob.

Scheifele is also worth more than a winger looking for a big raise that he has no chance of living up to. Plus Boeser isn't likely to extend in Winnipeg.

Boeser does have a chance of living up to that pay raise, just that the odds aren't in his favor

Florida accepts depending on whether Bob waives his NMC.

I don't think the Oilers agree to those terms.

There's really not much of an incentive for them to trade Klefbom's contract, he'll be on the LTIR the moment the regular season begins. Why give up anything when the impact of standing pat is almost nothing?

Even with both the Panthers and the Jets retaining some salary, Bobrovsky would still have a $7M cap hit and that is simply too much for a team that is tight against the cap.

I suspect that Hellebyuk would be Holland's preferred target, he's less expensive next season and probably willing to extend with the Oilers. I could see Holland being willing to part with JP and a first round draft pick for Hellebuyk, if there was some certainty that Hellebyuk extends his contract. If Chevy wanted two early draft picks, he might take an active contract back from the Oilers; the obvious candidates are Kassian, and Foegele. If Chevy wants Barrie, maybe there is a different deal to be made.

Can’t see Bob waiving for WPG or EDM and not sure oilers want to bring him on at 7M long term.
