Slight shake up

Created by: glarson17
Team: 2022-23 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2022
Published: Jun. 23, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
No clue what Colorado would do this offseason with goaltending, but I feel Gibson with this team in front of him is a safe bet. Newhook isn’t a 2C yet and Malkin helps make the team better while he can get more experience.

Hit the nail on the head for Bear. Gibson... I'll let Ducks fans tell you. You probably don't want to hear anything about goaltending from a guy who's team's best ever netminder is the Toronto Maple Leafs reject

I dont see Nichushkin getting past 5.85M. So I think especially since you guys had a great year with him I bet he’ll sign for 5-5.85M x 4-6years. That would be more realistic for him. Maybe i’m wrong but saving any bit of cap space is always good. As for Gibson trade, I would just sign Keumper for 4-5M then rather commit to Gibson at 6M for another 5(I think) especially with his play his last 3 years but most importantly the players you’ll have to sign aka Big Mac, Byram if he continues to get better and Newhook if he progresses after this year too.
Not too mention Teows who will be way more expensive when his contract is up in 2 years

The Bear trade is fine though

Anaheim might actually do that deal if you take out Comtois.

thats way too much going to anahiem. Maybe if gibson was coming off a vezna in the last 3 years you could get a haul like that but not at his current rate

not maybe, they would forsure. Gibson not good last 3 years, 6MX5. Comtois solid player but not good last year. I do think he would be better on a contender or even for Ana next year if not traded.
What does Ana get….
Girard- Young, signed and top 4 dman
Lehkonen, Artturi- yes you have to sign him but a great fit I think in ana, beast 2-way forward, clutch in playoffs.
Bowers- Still young with potential.
And a 1st! No way

Anaheim has been awful, I don’t think Gibson is as bad has his numbers suggest. That 1st will be very late, Bowers doesn’t have that much potential and they can’t afford Girard long term with Toews and Byram on the team. Girard is the odd man out and this solves their goaltending for years. Who would you rather have at that cost Gibson? Kuemper? Campbell?

Yeah actually i would. Both would be cheaper and will probably be 3-4 years. If they can’t afford Girard at 5X5 then what makes you think they would want a questionable Gibson at 6MX5 yes ANA has been trash but that would be a bigger risk for a cap team. Id rather go for Hellybuck who cost the same and has had good numbers then Gibson the past 3

Think that’s too much to give up for Gibson. You could sign one of Campbell fleury husso or Kuemper for same or less money without giving up all of those assets and I don’t think the results would be different.
