Why do you think Edmonton trades Puljujarvi for a rental netminder, and why do they add a pick to boot?

Agree with this. I tried making a SJ ACGM with Puljujarvi but from EDM's perspective I don't know why they'd do that when they could just sign a UFA goalie for maybe a little more. Plus Reimer has a NTC. Not sure how EDM is going to sign both Yaramoto and Puljujarvi.

because that rental netminder is making half what his services provide. Another alternative is that the Sharks just offersheet Puljujarvi and the Oilers get a 2nd round pick and no goalie

idk maybe the oilers might want a piece that makes them more competitive now rather than a lottery ticket that could be good or could be garbage but likely the latter... it was more so a generous offer than anything else. There are plenty of teams that are willing to give up a 2nd to offer 4.2M to Puljujarvi. The Oilers are not willing to offer him this amount of money. So yeah thats kinda my rationale

Look I dont doubt the Oilers are going to poo in their own hands regarding the Puljujarvi situation: it's kind of what they're good at. The Oilers can realistically sign both Puljujarvi and Yamamoto this offseason - remember they're allowed to exceed the cap by 10% over the summer.

Until we see Edmonton put pen to paper on either JR or JP, Reimer is a rental and you're still undervaluing Puljujarvi in this deal.
