Yes, That is a franchise elite starting goaltender for a B+ prospect and a late 1st.

What would balance the trade more than for each side? Make it a 2023 first? Add more picks?

Saros 100% could be dealt. It would need 10x this return, but 100% could happen.

Not saying it's not impossible, but it's definitely not happening for that return.

I’d argue Nashville cup window does not align with saros. So wouldn’t the best opportunity for Nashville be to target a window with Askarov and this would also be an excellent opportunity for saros in the peak of his career to play on a team that is in the middle of their window?

Goaltender values are hard to pick, but if I'm Poile here, the only piece (outside of Matthews) that Toronto has that interests me is Nylander. Knies is going to be good. Abrusseze and Robertson are good, nothing special. Lilly and Sandin are good, not special. There's no cream of the crop blue-chip prospect that makes sense here in my opinion. I don't know the Toronto system as well as I know others, so that's without doing any research, but that's my initial reaction.

Saros is a Vezina candidate goaltender, aka the 3rd best goaltender in the NHL. Knies ain't close to being a Top 10 prospect let alone the impact Saros has for his team

Honestly if you could move Saros , now would be the time. His value won’t go higher with his contract years coming down and his play is elite. If they can get 2nd overall for him and draft Cooley, that could be their 1C in a few years. And Askarov can replace Saros. Duchene, Johansen and Granlund are pretty meh

I would give up Willy+ for saros any day as long as it’s somewhat reasonable

Without Saros Nashville is immediately in the Conner Bedard sweepstakes though.

Once Askarov takes the reins, Then yes Saros is out the door. But i doubt that's anytime soon.

To be completely honest if I was Poile that’s exactly what I’d do if we lose forsberg. I’d also tell josi that we’re about to rebuild and if you wanna win a cup I’ll send to a contender or someone that is close. Josi would also bring back a haul. Jeannot is another one that could bring back something good.
Fun to talk about but Poile will never rebuild he’s good with being good enough.

As for this proposal I think is really weak and I said this before that Toronto doesn’t really have anything I’d want if we were to trade saros. I’m not in love with any of their prospects. I’d look to a team with better prospects

Dubas considers him an A prospect, but he would do the trade except I don't think he would want to buy our Myers (perhaps bring in another team to retain part of his cap).

If you don’t retool now, you’ll be rebuilding in 3 years. I think it’s a must. Jeannot could probably return a Hagel like package

Depends on what the more is but that’s a solid start. Saros in Edmonton would be a real solid pick up for them and would put them in true contender mode for years.

There would be a massive bidding war for sure, so even if there ask was something like this, the return would increase. I think Jersey would potentially give a great package.
