Not how moving LTIR contracts works. The 6th would likely be going the other way with Ferland.

Why do you think any team in the league needs LTIR money? LTIR isn't a good thing. I have a feeling you fundamentally misunderstand what 'LTIR money' is.

Because they are against the cap. If you have ltir you can go over the cap. If you look at the leafs team over the last 3 seasons they need ltir to fix their cap situation

They don't need that much cap space and Pearson is a waste on the 4th line. Flames can fit everyone by moving Lucic

You can't go over the cap with LTIR, it just raises the cap by the amount you are putting on LTIR which the LTIR player then takes up. The value of the cap you are going 'over' is the value of the contract you are putting on LTIR. Like I suggested, you just have a fundamental misunderstanding of what LTIR is.

For example, next seasons cap is 82.5 mil. With Ferland on LTIR, they would be able to go to 86 mil ... including Ferland's 3.5 mil contract. It's still only 82.5 mil for active players, just with Ferland added. LTIR doesn't create cap space.

LTIR contracts are still negative value assets, as we've seen with the Bishop and Weber trades this offseason. There are some very niche cases where a team may need LTIR money but those situations don't exist for anyone this offseason. You would need to pay to move Ferland's LTIR contract.
