Initial Creation Date: Jun. 24, 2022
Published: Jun. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This team is sustainable for at least 2 years as the only spot theyll need to fill is LW1 and theyll have 4.5m to do it. JVRs point totals might not look so pretty but he has much better advanced numbers and aside from playing with eichel/stone getting away from the trainwreck called the flyers will probably lead to a bump in production.

Vegas isn't trading Patches. If you want Martinez they will sell you him

I think the second trade is an overpay by Vegas. Even with retention, one year of JVR is not that valuable.

It’s a strong possibility imo.

The more I think about it Vegas needs a bit more coming back, Bellows + 3rd seems more fair, poor evaluation on my part. Hard to gauge his injury history.

Isles cannot really afford Pacioretty at his full salary, the only way it can be done is with Bailey going the other way.

Martinez is a difficult move at full cap hit, for the Isles to have interest there needs to be retention even if by a 3rd team.

I wrote it in the isles version but i made an acgm earlier asking what the cost would be and the only vegas fan said bellows and a late pick. What do you think he would cost?

Well theres 3.5m retention and 2.35m of cap dump brossoit. That equals the 2nd rounder (5.5 for a 2nd is the going rate these past couple of years) and JVR at 3.5 for coghlan is very fair i think.

I think we could move Brossoit with a late rounder, possibly for free. Worth mentioning JVR’s contact is only 4 million is salary, which is less appealing to Vegas than other teams.

What does other teams being cheap have anything to do with this deal?
As for brossoit i doubt youre going to have teams lining up to help out vegas. Its also a package deal. You might think theres a better way to go about this and youre entitled to that opinion but i think the value is fair even if it might not be your 1st choice.

First off I respect your opinion I don’t think the value is too far off. I mentioned salary because it should cost less for retention. I also don’t think Brossoit moves the needle in either way. It doesn’t make sense to get rid of Coghlan who is really cheap for one year of JVR. Zacha is a similar player who’s cheaper and the ask is less.

Zacha is not a similar player JVR drives play so much better. 2nd coghlan doesnt have a path to consistent minutes with 6 guys ahead of him on the depth chart. 3rd teams pay for the lost cap space with retention (for the most part) not really the paid salary. Brossoit was horrible last year and vegas is as cap strapped as cap strapped gets. Nobody is helping them out for free.
