Creating a trade for Phillys 1st

Created by: Habsfan76

Description
I’ve seen some rumours about Philly wanting to bounce back next season and not have a long drawn out retool/rebuild. Under Tortarella you know he’s going to want to play a mean style of hockey and already knows Anderson from being together in Columbus. Acquiring JVRs contract can free up some space in top of taking on Andersons contract. Adding in Calgarys 1st and a young Nhl ready Center who can play 4C might be enough to have Philly accept this deal.
Thoughts? What alterations would you make to this trade?

For that return absolutely not. Anderson wipes out savings of moving JVR and for more years, Poehling has shown little high end skill a 5OA could have, and moving down isn’t that appealing.

Agreed. Take whichever of Nemec/Jiricek is there, and improve the team from there. Lots of other picks/assets available to move without moving 5OA.

I will say though, I could see them doing something around Petry even though I disagree w the idea. I know there were rumors of Philly wanting him

From scouting reports I’ve seen Nemec/Jiricek have closest comparables to Morgan Reilly/ Colten Parayko. If you look at a trade from that point of view Anderson Poehling and a 1st is a fair deal IMO. Sometimes I think people overvalue picks for the dream that they may knock it out of the park and have a perennial award winner, but in this years draft class I don’t think it’s the case.

I mean, I wouldn't trade Morgan Reilly or Colten Parayko for Josh Anderson+Poehling+26OA, and if the goal is to simply shed JVR, I'd either buy him out, or send the necessary asset(s) out to dump the 1 remaining year. Moving from 5 OA to 26OA to get an extremely minor upgrade from JVR to Anderson is about as poor of an example of asset management as I can think of (Aside from trading a 1st for Risto).
