Decent value. Take out Bowers and Stanley. The Jets would have no interest in Girard though, as an LD. He'd need to be replaced with a player the Jets need.

Don't know why the Avs would want to give up so much for a second line centre. Signing UFA Kadri might be a better, and then if cap is needed traded Girard for assets.

Maybe a three team trade then? Girard to LA and LA gives WPG one of their young RHD?

That would probably work better.

I like the deal even with Girard. Flip him if need be for a RHD or rhs RW/C. LA has a glut of RD, Isles need a LHD, there would be plenty of teams that could use him.

Yeah, the value is good, but I don't like taking pieces the Jets don't need as part of the value. I know everyone says "just flip him", but from few actual trades we see each year, we know making a trade isn't as easy as saying it.

When you're the team giving up the prime piece, you might as well get what you need and want and let the acquiring team worry about the flipping shenanigans.

I am surprised after acquiring Dubois and signing him to that deal you would still have 25M in cap for when Nate needs his extension.

Agree with this . . . somewhat. (I like the 3-team
idea, which is essentially "flipping" Girard) You make a good argument, but also contradict yourself in a way. Trades ARE hard, but this would be a pretty good deal and, as much as Chevy has done well in the past---trading star players who want or need a change of scenery---I think it would be a risky move to hold out for something better simply because of what hand they shoot with. True. I should have also noted. If this is the only deal on the table of this value and the Jets think this is the time to move him, then yes you take the best value. However, it would hinge greatly on if there are other offers, if those offers have slightly less value but a better fit, then that may be the way to go.
